Good Quality Cage

I have 2 female rats in this cage and it is very roomy. I recomend this cage for anybody who has 2 or more rats. Alot of space to hang hammocs and other toys. However it would be better with bigger doors. And it also did nor come with chains to hang up the tubes. Overall really good cage for 2-4 rats.

SUPER JENNY RAT CAGE

It is BRILLIANT! My 3 males have loads of room, and have hammocks everywhere! Its easy to change things round as well! I honestly recommend it, for size and its actual inner strength to hold them bossy males in. Females will enjoy it too I suppose, because it is made to hold lively, mad rodents in. Enjoy your rat cages!

starter cage

It's ok for a starter cage, the bars started rusting after only a month. I adapted the front door with a large one you can buy online, very easy to do, to improve access for cleaning. Rats do enjoy it but i'm already looking for a new one and the main feature has got to be plastic coating on the bars.

Jenny Rat Cage

i bought this cage about 5 years ago for a ferret and since them i have kept rats in it and am now keeping lovebirds in it without the tubes and shelves. i think its a good long lasting cage that always has a purpose.

(24/09/08)

Good cage

The Jenny has it's ups and its downs. It is a good size for up to four female rats, and is plenty tall enough to allow lots of room to climb. The base size is good, big but not so big to take up your entire room. It is easy to dismantle and clean. On the other hand, the wire is a lot less rigid and sturdy than other cages, easier to dent and damage, so be careful moving the cage. The wire is uncoated so can be hard to clean and gets dirty after a while. Also be careful how you affix the shelves to ensure no little critters can fall very far...I find it best to modify this with a full-length plastic shelf, then just accessorise with the half-length shelves. All in all, a decent cage, but if you're going in for a lifetime of rat keeping you might want something sturdier..

Problems

I have kept two female rats in a Jenny cage for 8 months. The major problem is that they have chewed holes in the base (in the corners). I can also see the first signs of the bars rusting and agree that access is not as good as it could be.

Eileen (17/08/08)

okay

I have one of these cages for 3 years now i have two girls in and there's not problem with it i clean once every weeks as they always go for it in the same spot so i do that every week i cant see anyone having a go about this cage its fab also have another 4 jenny cages only had these for a year or so though still okay charlotte

The Rats love it

I have 3 does in mine and they love it! I do admit that it can be a pain to clean and i dread it when it comes to getting the shelves out - but why should it matter, it is the best rat cage i have ever had, and looking at my rats play in it, it's more than worth the trouble i have to go through for cleaning. It's not about how much we have to do, its about how good it it for our pets, so it'll well worth the little annoyence.

Geri (16/07/08)

its a good cage witha few hiccups

I have two of these cages they are about 2 years old, no problem to clean the base, the levels however are a nightmare. The bars do carode very badly and then rust but clean up with a good old scrub. wouldn't say that the bars are flimsy or weak i have one on top of another and there fine. Tubes so much fun for my rats. Not the best cage ever but a good cage...

Michelle (17/06/08)

Good cage

And it shouldnt rust-unless you have it sited in a moist environment. Plenty of room for up to four ratties!

Rich (13/01/08)

a mixed review

Rats will love living in this, humans will grumble during cleaning. It has everything you need to keep up to 4 happy rats. Good accessories, but more a budget than luxury choice. Its literally a bit wobbly but it does its job. Small sidedoors are a problem re access, but there is a big door on the top. Fiddly but managable for cleaning.

Jenny (04/01/08)

Superb!

I am glad to say that the Jenny Two Rat Cage is really good. People are saying the bars are weak but do not take any notice. They do not rust unless you wet them and leave them. I have had it weeks/months now and it is great. My four males enjoy living in it, so, yay! Anyway I am admitting the doors are not the best but they still can do. xx

Rachel (20/11/07)

ok

at first i loved the cage now after a few months im hopeing for a smaller one because the bars rust very easily and if you hang a hommock the top of the cage bends in

stephen (18/11/07)

ratties luv this cage

our three male rats luv this cage, lots of room to play, have added a wood cabbin to sleep in and climb on,a hammock, and parrot toys hang from roof, allso clear plastic hamster ball on floor of cage{without door}one of our ratties likes to sleep curled up nice and snug inside it but can keep an eye on what everyone else is doing!

(29/10/07)

great i love it and i am 11

my two males love there cage they adore the tunnels (sparky has made his bed in the singular tube and scabbers is permeantly running onto the different levels) there is lots of space for my homeade ratty toys and they eaach have seprate hammocks one on each floor as for cleaning it takes me about 15 mins to clean out propally the door on the top is great and i just leave it open so sparky and .overall this cage is great and is also propally the best looking rat cage on the market 10 out of 10

Rubbish!

I have had this cage for not very long and trust me DO NOT BUY IT!!!!! The cage is ok but the bars are a nightmare. They go rusty and snap very easily. I have 2 boys (Beano & Sheara) in the cage just now but I am looking for a new one as this one is crap!PLEASE DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS!!! I recommend the Tom rat cage. My 3 girls have that cage and they love it. The bars are coated and very thick so much better than the Jenny rat cage.

Stef Dickson (08/07/07)

exellent

this cage is exellent i got it for a presant and it is spacious my 2 rats ollie and oscar love it although it is heavy and a pain to clean .

stephen (19/06/07)

Fantastic cgae for my Does

Excellent cage, easy to put together and great value. I have 3 does, and they LOVE this cage. I have brought extra corner shelves and there is plenty of space for hammocks, tubes and toys. A 5 star rattie palace!

(20/03/07)

Great cage

my 2 girls love this cage, there is plenty of room for toys and for them to play and jump but it is a pain to clean. the tubes and shelves arent that easy to take off and you must have very long arms as there are only 2 little doors on the side of the cage and one big one at the top! it is an excellent cage, i would recommend it but it is hard to clean! also wear long sleeves to clean or you will scratch your arms!

Amy Green (18/02/07)

good cage poor condition

Just bought the new jenny cage the girls are going to love it as soon as I get a new tray for it as the one that was sent was broken on arrival no chains for the tubes other then that good cage.

Jenifer Lane (01/02/07)

Jenny Rat Cage

Great cage for rat,s-nightmare cage from hell for humans (to clean out-not live in). Cleaning takes a full half hour, longer if you fully remove the shelves but it is well made appart from the galvanising on the bars which is very thin and rusts as soon you look at it (or youre rat pee,s on it). The rats love it but i would try the Freddy next time-sorry ratties.

Ferplast Jenny

Good cage. Great price. Fast Delivery. This cage is good for two small Jill ferrets, although you do have to purchase an extra shelf to make it 100% safe for them.

Jane Ruutel (02/11/06)

Roomy but a few probs

My 3 girls love this cage as it gives them plenty of room to jump around and climb. The tubes are great too. But it's an awful job to keep the platforms clean. They are tricky to get out and so are the tubes. I can't imagine anyone under 6 foot cleaning this out with ease as it is so cumbersome. The bars do tarnish over time too. Rats love it. You won't.

Richard (24/10/06)

excellent cage

nice size cage,easy assembly,prompt delivery.

Howard Farrell (24/08/06)

Great Cage

Enough room for toys, easy to clean, My baby girls love it.

Ratty owner (11/08/06)

awful cage

Access is bad, the side doors too small for a rat, it is difficult to get to the shelves. Cleaning out is back-breaking - everything has to be accessed from underneath. The shelves are awful - hard to wipe, they have raised ridges which collect stuff. The bars are awful - they're not coated and go rusty. The whole cage is flimsy - not durable. If your rats are not tame when you get them, good luck taming them, they can hide from you. Get the Tom!

Joolz (30/07/06)

Good for Big Mice!

I originally had this cage for my two rats, but after upgrading their cage, I have put mice into this. It's really perfect for them! However, it's worth coating the bars with enamel or similar to prevent tarnishing and rust. Comes with fab dishes and tubes. I should imagine the cage would also be suitable for gerbils, degus and other small furries! Don't be fooled by the fact it's called a Rat cage! A really adaptable and useful cage to have for those owning a multitude of rodents.

Victoria Moxon (21/07/06)

great cage

my rats adore their cage its easy to clean, and there is loads of space for toys and climbing accessories. ive had it 2 years and no problems yet.

Looks Gr8!!

I saw this cage in my local pet store for £120! I cnt beleive the great price of zooplus deffinatly a good find. I will be buyin this cage soon! Looks very big and my friend also used 2 have the same cage n said its very good.

Louise (29/06/06)

Good cage

The cage is good value as each of the tubes included retail at about 5 pounds and you get 4 of them plus lots more quality items. The downside is the bars are thin and flimsy and I worry they¿ll break. I have issues with the door on the front. It's too small to reach inside the cage. You have to dismantle the cage to move things as it's impossible to add or move things without removing the base. My 2 boys like it though. There is lots of space and they love sleeping in the big tubes.

Laura (29/06/06)

No problems!

I have had one of them for my chinchilla now since Sept 05 and have had no problems with rust or damage (apart from Pebbles' chewing parts here and there!). I am about to get her a friend and so will be getting another of these cages soon and this website is by far the best value. I clean it every week, disassembling it each time, and once you get used to where everything goes it doesn't take long - about half an hour - which is hardly anything in comparison to the happiness our pets give us.

Sam (28/06/06)

excellent

i am a first time rat owner and was worried about getting the wrong cage for my rats. i brought this cage and milly and cartmen love it! its big and exactly what they need.however the water bottle is rubbish! but overall A**

Hayley S (14/06/06)

Jenny Cage

The 2 rats I keep in my Jenny cage seem to enjoy climbing about in there but I have found that it isn't the easies cage around when it comes to cleaning. The whole thing has to be disassembled to give it a good clean. Having said that, the most important thing is that the animals are happy.

Steve (11/06/06)

Large rat cage

This cage is a very good size for rats.I have been using my cage for about a year, however it is starting to rust quite badly so it will have to be replaced after a few years. The shelves are hard to clean, if they are taken off the cage it takes about an hour to put back on as it takes a lot of fiddling to get them attached properly. It takes me about an hour to clean. It would be better if the bars of the cage were protected from rust and if the shelves were easier to attach.

Jess (10/06/06)

Good value and better than the TOM by far!

apart from the tarnishing bars (which you can spray to prevent it!) no complaints as you can easily convert it to take a larger door like the TOM and unlike the TOM everything in it is good quality and useful!

Emma (05/06/06)

rubbish!

Dont ever buy this cage ive had it for 6 months and now i need to buy a new one. After a couple of months the bars started to rust and then a couple of weeks ago i picked the cage up to move it and three of the bars snapped. If you want a cage that lasts then this one is not for you.

Excellent Cage - Excellent service

I have two female rats, the cage is perfect, they love climbing the bars of the cage espescially, and there is plenty of room to add your own accessories to compliment those already supplied. Unfortunately the cage was damaged on receipt (by the carrier) a quick email to zooplus and with no fuss whatsoever a new replacement piece was ordered and sent out. I would recommend the cage, but more importantly, I would recommend the service of zooplus - Thanks

(14/05/06)

my rats love it

my rats have enjoyed this cage very much. it offers a vast amount of space for exersise and play.

Emma (15/04/06)

First time rat owner

Excellent cage, my two young females love it, loads of room to hang ropes and toys for them, easy to assemble and easy to clean. Very good value on this site too.

Liz Gatrick (31/03/06)

Absolutely Brilliant

This cage is definantly the one to have. Its spacious and my 2 male rats love it. I have found that it is best to buy this cage after the rats are more used to you as getting them out of the long tubes if they are shy is impossible. Relitively easy to clean. I clean the shavings weekly and the shelves and actual cage bi-weekly. ALSO-ITS THE CHEAPEST ONE OF ITS KIND, THE PETS AT HOME PRICE IS £89.99

Rob Burgreave (19/03/06)

Don't beleive the reviews!

I was worried about getting this cage, as many people seemed to have trouble assembling it. BUT I have just put it together, on my own, in about oh, half an hour. This included deciding where to position things for maximum ratty fun. The only slightly tricky part was lining up the pieces of tube at the correct angles to make an access tunnel, rather than a rat death-slide. But this is not a fault with the cage. In all, nice size for 3 rats, lots of accessories, very good price.

Rebecca Hill (11/03/06)

Great cage.

Have just received the cage. It is easy to assemble. My 2 male rats love it, plenty of space to run around in.

sonia (01/03/06)

Definately worth it.

This cage was bought for 2 large males and it's perfect for them!!. Was much bigger than expected, a good sized cage even for 3 big rats. It's easy to clean, and easy to take the base off as well. The doors are easy to use, 2 singles(one of each side) and a double sized one on the roof. Comes packed with 2 platforms,(easy to attach),a big tube for the rats to run from one platform to the other, a food dish and bracket, a water bottle and a ladder!!. Definately worth it!!.

Wayne and Joy (23/02/06)

rat cage

ive got one of these for 2 of my rats and it cost £90 and i was looking for one exactly the same and i found this one and its the cheapest ive seen

kirsty (16/02/06)

Great for rats, Not so great for owner!!

Great value spacious cage for ratty heaven but not great for ratty owners trying get them out or clean them out with the small doors.

Natalie (11/02/06)

Excellent

I love this cage as do my two bucks, they are having a great time in it. Excellent, a little difficult to access to clean but my boys are both quite friendly so come out themselves i can see how some people may find it difficult to get shy rats out

Debra Hill (31/01/06)

good value for size

Had this cage foe a year now, size is great for pet rats! Very easy to clean as bottom clips off, i clean the shelfs with a spray disinfectent for small anaimals, as shelfs are hard to take off once together. The doors are quite small if you have shy rats as it quite hard to get them out. Also rats can go in the tubes which makes it even more difficult!Although it has its bad points my rats love it!!

katie willoughby (16/01/06)

brilliant jenny rat cage

it's brilliant 4 a rat but we might get it for our gerbil laugh out loud.

hannah (14/01/06)

poor

i hate this cage its got really small dors and it rusts ! I would buy the tom

Wilma (17/11/05)

my rats love it

I have just put my rats in this cage, and they love it.. there is so much space for them and they love the tunnels..Really good value for money.

karen (15/11/05)

not pleased :(

this cage is really hard to clean and to get rats out of !! i would give it 1 out of 10

katie (13/11/05)

good for your rats or is it?

This cage is large and relatively easy to clean. Its an ideal space for your rats. But it's hard to get shy and scared rats out. when you first get them they need to get used to you so it's important to get them out. But it's so large when they run you can't catch them espeially when they hide in that tube which s about 1 and half foot long

Adam Jones (05/11/05)

great value for money

i also saw this in every pet store n website for £89 great value for money .

d muir (03/11/05)

Great Value

i will be buying this product soon! i saw it in my local pets at home for £89, and even though it had a few more accessories it is alot better value, and the other things could be bought sepratly cheaper!
