Excellent product. Simple swap into the aperture of the previous catflap. Has prevented unwanted intruder moggies coming in and eating food put out for our cats and then spraying everywhere. Best piece of tech we have purchased in ages.
This is a brilliant product that is also an easy DIY project. The door works really well. My cat was a housecat for 2 years and is extremely timid but she took to using it to go outside really well, shame she doesn't like coming back inside as much.
We used to have an ordinary flap at the entrance to a tunnel through house wall, but other cats were coming in. The Sureflap works perfectly except that our cat was totally spooked by the dropping of the latch and the accompanying clicking noise when he was in the middle of the tunnel coming in (and this is the newer quieter model). He made ungainly exits, rear-end first, back onto the patio! So we had to go back to the basics to regain his confidence going through the tunnel. First with a bare tunnel, then the flap with no batteries (no click) and propping the flap open, then the flap closed and finally the batteries back. I put strips of black insulating tape at the bottom of the flap so that he couldn't see the latch dropping either. This did the trick, and now, three weeks after the initial installation he is at last coming in - and the neighbour's cat - who was using it all through this period, is thwarted! Great product and a very helpful help-desk at Sureflap.
Having suffered a very frequent, unwanted visitor into my house over a few days, who sprayed all over the place, I was at my wits end, having had to replace, amongst other things, my kettle, which was ruined in a particularly full on spray attack, I was wary about spending so much on a new cat flap. I didn't like the other option of permanently locking my old one as my cats are used to be able to come and go as they please, and I didn't want to have a litter tray in the house. This cat flap was delivered (free) within 2 days of me placing my order. Setting it up was unbelievably easy, both cats were positioned as per the instructions and the cat flap immediately registered and stored their microchips. Apart from being a bit wary for the first few times they used it, my cats have adapted fine and I no longer have a smelly house! I would rate this 10 stars if I could!
After more than 25 years of our different cats using standard cat flaps with no unwelcome visitors (that I was aware of!) we have just started being pestered by a very brazen newcomer. After watching it wander into our hall while relaxing with our 2 Siamese I decided enough was enough. Went onto Zooplus website, spotted SureFlap read reviews, ordered, delivered and fitted within 3 days - great! Our cats took to it immediately and so far no hassle from unwanted visitors. Heartily recommended.
I wish i'd bought this ages ago, its been a gods send, my cats find it easy to get in and out of, it gives me freedom and them, BUT the only problem is when it blows a gale and the cat(s)come in the flap stays open making it easy for ugly - a feral cat to come in and eat everything in sight and wee in my house, so i would of like the magnet to of been a bit more stronger. I am going to do what another customer has done and put tire weights on bottom of door. Other than that an excellent purchase.
Had this for about a year now. Allows the cats easy access to the garden without letting any strange cats in with them! Only thing to note is that you cannot programme specific conditions for each cat. For example either they are all allowed in or all allowed out. This was never a problem until we got a new kitten who kept escaping with the adult cats. I think a more expensive model is available and may be worth it to prevent this issue.
I was very worried at having to cut a hole in my door but it was relatively easy to do using the template on the Zooplus website. The microchips were easy to put in the flaps memory. Just waiting for the kittens to be brave enough to use it!
All my previous cats made use of a bog-standard Staywell cat-flap. I tried upgrading to magnetic locking devices, but to no avail. They've all been very intimidated by the VERY loud clunking as they went in and out. My last two, Russian Blues called Hammer and Sickle, hated it. Hammer simply couldn't understand the 4-way locks at all, so promptly wrecked the flap! The Russians died about 2 yrs ago, both aged 19. So, after a break of two years I've acquired two British Blues, brothers named Jago and Bacon!! Don't blame me, my grandsons named them. They're now 27 weeks old, neutered, chipped, and vaccinated. They've been very curious about the cat-flap, and so, last week, my son and I trained them how to use it by 'posting' the cats in and out of the house for about 20 mins. Whilst not silent, the light noise made by the locking mechanism doesn't worry them at all. The SureFlap responds quickly to their presence, and enables very quick entry and exit. The cat-flap seems very well made with no sharp edges to catch the cats. Even better, it's run on batteries. It would've been a pain for me to run a mains lead and transformer to the door, so I was delighted to find a battery-driven flap. Very easy to install, and large enough to accommodate a sure-to-be chunky cat!
Cat flap arrived promptly. Replaced old one with no probs. Have two cats who have used a flap for previous 2 years. One cat got the hang of it straight away; the second is much more nervous and it's taken a month of coaxing to finally get her through - she was scared of the 'click' noise that it makes as it opens. Food was the best bribery. Bit of a hassle to get her to use it but no Toms seem to have visited; so no nasty smells or food guzzled by visitors.
I recommend this door. I paid a professional installer to put the cat door in, so I can't judge how easy the installation is into a wooden kitchen door like mine. The installer had me put the cat's head through the door twice. and it picked up my cat's chip immediately (she was chipped two months ago, so the chip is new). My cat figured out how to go out the door about 1 minute after installation. Learning how to come back in was harder, as my cat tried to pry it open with her paws and didn't figure out for a while that she had to wait for the click to let her back in (it doesn't click when she goes out) and that she had to go in head-, and not paws-, first. So I had to go outside and pick her up a few times and push her head through it, and she then learned how to get back inside. It did take a few more tries before I was satisfied that she knew how to open it from outside, and she now proudly goes in and out on her own. She's a small cat and the size is appropriate for her, as I don't think she would have coped with squeezing through the standard-sized flaps, which are much smaller. I bought this door because it has a 'curfew' timer mode, so that my cat can only go out during the times I program (which are daylight hours). It will let her back in after the curfew time, but she is very unhappy that it currently clicks shut at 5pm every night to prevent her going out, and I find her regularly sitting by it during the night trying to will it to open! So I usually push a box against the cat door when it's programmed to be shut so that she gives up trying to pry it open. But she also doesn't understand that the microchip door keeps the local bully cat out, so my cat often sits inside our back door guarding her flap from invaders (the box against the cat door helps allay her fears at night).
This product is both brilliant and inspired. Our two cats had for years been terrorised by regular attacks from the neighbours' vicious and cunning black tom, which woke us night after night with fights and food theft. Sureflap has instantly solved the problem and after only three weeks our cats are noticeably more happy and relaxed - they seem to sense that "their" house is now safe from feline intruders. Installation was - even for a DIY duffer like me - a doddle, requiring only a couple of millimetres enlargement of the cutout for our previous "Staywell" flap. Hint - an easy way to register your cat's chip pre-installation is to use the unit, door down and in recognition mode, as a feeding bowl and offer a couple of cat treats placed on the inner surface of the door. I was worried about the size of our cats (6kg and 6.5kg) in view of adverse reviews on this issue. All cats are however lithe creatures and both our monsters "swim" quite effortlessly through the device. Finally may I use this forum to congratulate the boss of Sureflap on the best ever antidote to domestic feline terrorism.
This cat flap is the bees knees...no draught, no unwanted guests and unbelievably easy to fit. Buy with confidence.
This cat flap is great, it is well made, was easy to programme, much easier to install than previous flaps and being the larger size has ample room for my 8 Kg kitty to get in and out. It also has options to increase the time the door unlocks for - great for cats that dither outside for ages before coming in (I have an ex stray that likes to check who is in the kitchen before entering). I had a problem with another of my cats in that it was not picking up his microchip (due to the strength of his microchip signal) and the door wouldn't open for him so I emailed Sureflap customer service and they were brilliant! Problem was resolved quickly and efficiently and I now have 3 happy cats and the local bully cat is very frustrated with not being able to get in. I am also saving £££s on cat food bills. I would certainly recommend this for anyone who has large cats (or small dogs) and wants to stop all the neighbourhood cats from wandering in as they please. I would also recommend buying with confidence from Sureflap as a company - they sent me a range tester to check the unit was working properly - it was so they told me how to put it into high power mode to increase the strength of the signal. This did the trick but if it hadn't they were going to order me a specially modified unit with a longer tunnel. That's excellent customer service in my book!
What a fantastic product. Easy to set up and link the cats micro chip. Another cat was coming in our house and chasing our cats and eating their food...we even caught him in our bedroom at 3 o'clock in the morning! Our cats are now safe from the neighbourhood bully!! We wish we had bought this weeks ago. Our cats were staying away from the house for longer and longer each day and when they were home they wouldn't settle and were on edge all of the time. They are now home and so relaxed...what a difference. The cat flap is expensive but in our case was well worth the money.
These flaps work very well -- I have two, on different doors, which allow us to feed our cats separately, due to diet restrictions. The flaps are well-built and reliable, and have a long battery life. However, we have one particularly cunning neighbourhood cat who managed to defeat the security mechanism and break in. I emailed Sureflap, more to let them know than with any hopes they'd be able to assist. They were friendly and helpful, and extremely concerned about the problem. They sent me first a pair of prototypes of their new dual-locking flaps, and then two of the final product, at their own expense. I can recommend these flaps without hesitation, both for the product itself and for Sureflap's outstanding customer support.
The flat works very well. My cats got very quickly used to it. The batteries last long too and the flap itself is very good quality. It keeps other cats out. Would by it again.
I have had one of these for a year now. We had trouble with feral farm cats getting in and this device stopped them for a while. Our cats love to poke their heads in and make the electric switch click, this runs down the batteries in about 4 months. No big deal. The main problem is the the bottom of the door does not have enough mass to positvely close after each cat passes so, on a windy day it can remain just unlatched. That's enough for Ginger Tom from the farm to dive in and cause havoc. I solved this by putting some sticky backe lead tyre balancing weights on the bottom of the door. Now it closes every time, denying GT his spary fest.
Originally I was going to buy one of those magnetic cat doors, but I am so glad I saw sureflap advertised. It is great not having to worry about my cat loosing her collar (with magnet attached) and being stuck outside until I get home...and she somehow does manage to loose it regularly! It is also great having a cat door that restricts which pet can come inside as with my old cat door, I was constantly having to chase my neighbours cats outside as it would sneak in to scoff down the cat food. The sureflap was easy install and it didn't take too much coaxing for my cat to get used to it (she is only six months old so had never used a cat door before). I quite like the clicking sound it makes when it reads the microchip as I can monitor when my cat is coming and going. For me, the sureflap cat door is definitely worth the money.
I've had one of the SureFlap cat flaps for two weeks and so far it has been amazing.. It was easy to fit as the hole from my previous CatMate cat flap was exactly the same size.. I did not programme it first but as soon as it was fitted I put it in it's memory mode by just pushing one button.. I sat by it to make sure it was my cat that was first through and as he passed through with little coaxing it clicked, turned off the memory mode and locked behind him and he has been using it ever since as if it had always been there, locking up behind himself each time!! The two nuisance next door cats have attempted entry several times without success and now seem to have given up and watch bewildered as my cat lets himself in.. I can also hear the click when my cat comes in at night while I am in bed.. Brilliant.. A magic piece of kit.. Highly recommended....
Bought this to replace a bog standard cat flap, which had all the inherent problems of other cats coming in and eating my cats food and spraying. Easy to install and set up,it fitted into the existing space left by the old cat flap. If anyone asked me for a recommendation with regards to buying a cat flap, this product would be the one I would recommend, cannot praise it highly enough. Well worth the money.
After unwelcome visitors and endless lost collars and magnets, I bought this to replace a Staywell cat flap. It was very easy to fit - same size hole and screw positions as the Staywell. Uses two AA batteries and has a light to indicate when they need changing. My two cats took to using it straight away and the problem cat is permanently excluded. Highly recommended.
I bought a SureFlap Cat Flap over a year ago and it's been one of my best cat related purchases ever,no collars and tags to lose and no more neighbours cats coming in and eating my cats food or spraying in the house. The only fault I found was that any cat can get out which proved a problem when I had a little kitten who was desperate to get outside to join my other cats but was way too young and hadn't completed his vaccinations.
i have the sureflap and was delighted with it but now the piece of metal which acts as the magnet has gone so the flap blows and bangs with the slightest bit of wind not happy so much now as its been very drafty through this winter
Excellent for keeping neighbouring cats away... Until you lock the flap so your cats can come in but your kitten (and cats) are not allowed out. Ideal for cats being kept in at night but come home at different times. When my male cat of 5 years was suddenly not allowed out when the kitten came along he managed to figure out how to escape! He paws and paws at the flap until the button at the front pushes down, then hooks his claws under the flap and opens it up towards him! Very funny at first as we couldn't work out how he got out. Then I saw him with my own eyes. Still wasn't a problem as only the kitten needed to be inside... Until she learnt from him how to do it! Now have to use full lock which isn't as useful. Batteries really do last about 6mths, I wasn't expecting that. Great product, could do with tweaking- aimed at clever kitties! IF your cat is 5.5kg + would suggest this may be too small. My 6kg cat gets thro it but only just!
best product ever no longer will neighbours cat come steal food and go on my kitchen tops. I feel great knowing my babies are safe whilst i am at work or out and about - well done sureflap you have changed my life!
my cat is able to come and go as she needs.i work long hours it has provided a entertained cat and not a bored cat.no other cats have been able to get in .it gives me sound of mind .the unit is sturdy, its made life much easier, not having to rely on someone letting her out .no more litter trays, and no more jumping on me to let her out at 5am.unit is easy to install, can trust it does exactly what it says on package.best cat flap on market, will keep out unwanted cats.
After months of problems with a local Tom cat entering our house, spraying everywhere and frightening our cats, we discovered this microchip flap. It is fantastic and I recommend it to everyone! Easy to fit and very simple to programme. We have had ours for 12 months and it is still using the original batteries. I will never ever go back to the old style flaps again!
It's such a great idea. Putting the microchip on your cat to a further use. Prevents other cats coming in, but if you leave your back door open and one gets in, it can get OUT without problem. Easy to set up, no draughts coming in. Gives cat confidence when running away from a chaser! They kind of tease next door's cats by getting in and looking at them. If you use it in a double glazed unit you will need to purchase a DOUBLE GLAZED GLASS PANEL with the hole made in it. It cannot be put into double glazing unless you do. The cavity would break down and leak.
I had the SureFlap Microchip Cat flap installed a couple of weeks ago. It took half an hour including cutting the hole and fixing the flap in place. After a reluctant start, my cat realised this way was freedom... She soon learned the cat flap was her own front door. The microchip recognition was easy to achieve even with a reluctant cat. Cat treats worked a dream and soon I could hear the gentle flip flop as exit and entry were acomplished to perfection. It has made life much easier for both of us particularly when we have the reassurance that only my cat can get in and out of our house. I highly recommend this product.
The kittens took to using this straight away, it was fairly easy to fit in our wooden door. It would be better if it was a little bit larger now they have grown into cats. They also sit near it when its raining so it clicks because it senses them. On the whole great peace of mind because you know only your cats can enter and they are not locked out if they lose their collar (which is often)and you dont have to keep replacing collar magnets.
This is a quality product that works exactly as it says on the tin. Easy to register your cat with it, just push the button and shove your cat through! No more cats from up the road coming in to bully your cat, steal food or spray on the wallpaper! The built in tunnel is a nice touch and you can get extenders if mounting on a thick wall. The catch releases very quickly when your cat gets within range and stays down if the cat hesitates before coming through. Brilliant. Worth every penny. Our cats feel safe in their own home now.
Ok make no mistake, both our moggies love this device that has run happily for at least 4 years now and has made our home a peaceful place. We have clearly recouped the cost of the flap in unstolan cat food. We have always experienced very good support when we have phoned up with minor issues such as the sensor getting dirty with fur or the lock literally freezing one winter. Our last issue was bizarre . One cat all of a sudden could not get in. Tried everything. Support said it must be the cats chip. Vet said no way. Healthy cat goes to vets and is now chipped for a second time since the first had travelled deep into her shoulder and the fap could not sense it. So peace is resorted once more.
We bought this as the ideal solution to stop a local stray Tom from coming in and spraying the house. Managed to get one cat's chip recognised without problem, but the other cat who is of a larger size (7+kg) struggled with it on two counts. Firstly he found it difficult to belly crawl through the smaller inner square aperture of the flap (although the outer tunnel is larger, the inner flap narrows at the bottom to a square), and also his microchip is placed far enough down his upper back that the flap did not register the chip even when his nose was firmly squashed against the flap trying to open it. It was amusing to watch his efforts, but in fairness it was not suitable for big Boy! Zooplus, to their credit, agreed to return and refund without issue.
I cannot believe I waited so long to get this. It has really changed my life, and that of my cat. He has already started to put on weight and look and act much brighter, since we both realise no other cat can now invade his territory and steal his food. It took only about 15 minutes to set up, install and get him used to it and we never looked back. An absolutely brilliant solution.
After nearly a year I am still very happy with the Sureflap cat flap. It completely solved problem with local bullies coming in and bashing up my cats and spraying the house. I have just had to change the batteries for the first time and considering how often my cat uses it (2-3 times an hour sometimes) I consider that good. My daughters dog also uses it successfully to charge in and out. The dog is smaller than the cat so fits through fine and it read her microchip just like the cats. I would recommend it to anyone needing to keep other cats out and who's cat doesn't like a collar. The only problem I have had was with fitting as it was larger than my previous cat flap and as it was through a wall I had to get the chisel out!
This is a really great product. Very easy to fit and to program. Unfortunately my cat is too fat to fit through it and I had to change to a Pet Porte microchip door which is slightly larger in diameter but much more complicated to program. I wish Sureflap would make a larger model , please !!
We bought one for our 18 month burmese cats about 3 years ago. They had never used a catflap before this. They quickly got used to using it and got used to the click. we had a few problems after a few months with the micro chip reader not working properly. We spoke to the manufacturers about it and they promply sent us another something to upgrade the reader - no problems since. Easy to set up and program - wouldnt be without it - will definately buy one again.
This is a brilliant cat flap. Extreamly easy and quick to fit. Fits snuggly into the hole that you cut with no need to fill after. Took our two 18 month old boys (who have never used a cat flap before) about a day to work out, with a little encouragement from us. The click (as it opens and closes) put them off at first but this was quickly ignored when they realised that we were no longer opening the window for them and this was their only way into the outside world. Money well spent on our very first cat flap and would recommend to anyone looking for one.
Amazing bit of kit. Piece of cake to fit. A doddle to program. Quick and easy, no messing. The cats that used to stroll into our house and terrorize our cats didn't know what hit them and consequently our cat food bill has halved now. Our cats are so much happier, and the faint click that the flap makes when activated didn't bother our cats at all. They got used to it in a flash. Our tabby is quite large and has no problem fitting through. Every cat owner should get one of these
