Our now 10 year old Cavy has been on this food for many years and yes the vet compliments on her fine form and ideal weight. No problems with digestion and she is thriving on this high protein dog food and I recommend it if you want a good quality feed for your pet.
Ingredients are great and very high protein content means that this fills up our cocker spaniel much more than cheaper food. Even though it is expensive we need to feed our dog half the usual amount so not much more expensive. We have tried a few high protein foods and this is the only one that does not upset his stomach.
The vets told me that Stan the Greyhound was to thin and I had to confess that keeping weight on him has been tricky, but not anymore. This is a great food he has gained weight and is now steady maintaining it. His coat is glossy and he looks in great condition.
Product looks fine but quite small kibble. Our two Flatcoats seem to like it. Disappointed that there are no feeding guidelines with the product so hard to gauge how much to feed. I don't want to over feed as our bitch is neutered and it is easy for her to gain weight and hard to loose it.
Lovely food for fussy Staffies . They love these small kinked and must taste so good as soon as put the food down its gone
Our Labradoodle has been eating this for about a year now after we switched from Orijen, which is also a great product but twice the price, presumably not helped by shipping charges from Canada.Whenever we take our dog for routine check ups in the vets they always say she is a perfect weight and super condition. I would totally recommend Purizon but no matter what, would advise staying away from all dog food contains fillers and grain.
My three labs love this food. I would highly recommend it. Grain free too. Very pleased with the product.
My Akita is as fussy as they come the only kibble he would eat is taste of the wild, but the price just keeps going up on this food plus it's more plant protean than meat. so i thought i would try Purizon kibble. and low and behold my Akita loves it, and it has fish in it which i have been trying to get him to eat for years. great quality great price, plus none of the problems others have encountered with this food in poo's or wind..
I loved this food for the quality and no grains, but after 3 weeks i had to stop feeding it, my GSD's coat was gorgeous on this but her stools were like logs and huge sadly, so we will find another to try her on.
I have four rescue dogs the eldest is 16 years old, i have been giving them Burns and changed to Purizon, they love it, only wrong thing is the measurements as all food are different sizes and all measuring cups different, it would be nice if i could get a cup for this food as the Burns cup i am using might not be enough or too much for thembut the food it'self is great
I have an extremely sensitive Cockapoo and was struggling with his diet. After spending his first year seeing a vet on a regular basis, taking steroids and being tested for all allergies feeding remained a problem. Then along came Purizon!! He loves it, I am sure it is due to lack of cereals and added herbs are beneficial. I now have a happy dog who is enjoying eating and exercise. Poo 'normal' for the first time.
I have 2 shih tzus one is very very fussy and the other has very sensitive stomach they have been on burns and I felt the sensitive dog needed to stay clear of rice and cereals. I am so happy with this food they clear their bowls in one sitting which is a first, it smells lovely. The pellets themselves are small and maybe not suitable for larger breed dogs. I'm happy with the price and it appears to be better value than well known brands of similar food. I am slightly concerned that I can't find any information about the company or where the food is sourced which is why I have given 4 stars. The food itself appears to be made from quality ingredients and seems to be talking for itself and the dogs are much happier. I hope the price doesn't start shooting up now.
The food is really good quality, my dogs like it however even tho i am already on the 4th bag of it , the poo poos are still loose on the verge of diarreah so unfortunately will have to give up. Gave it a chance of almost 3 months but poops still the same.
I used to feed both my dogs on Jameswellbeloved which in itself is fine but found that my picky Collie wouldn't eat a lot of it and my very allergic older Collie scratched a bit with it - so decided to change to Purizon after reading the ingredients list it had - with no "fillers" etc and just the pure stuff ..... Wow! What a difference! my younger Collie has bloomed on it, shiny coat, bright eyes, full of energy and has finally filled out! My older dog doesn't scratch like she used to and has an amazing coat - only problem with her is that she's bloomed weight wise too due to high calorie content, Have asked Purizon if they do "weight control" yet but unfortunately they don't - I live in hope. Really really impressed with this food :-)
This food is great quality. It has a higher protein content than orrijen. I have five dogs of different types and they all love it. I have had issues with loose stills but as other reviewers had said stick with it as the problem will pass! Would highly recommend to anyone who cares about what their dogs eat
Excellent food for dogs. Smells delicious. The cat variety is also excellent and my dogs and cats love this food and look extremely good on it. Faeces are well formed and don't have that awful odour that dogs fed on cheap food has.
My GSD is hyper-allergic even to rice and soya. Its been a nightmare to find food he can eat without him breaking out in sores. This is perfect. He's been on it 10 months and has never been in better shape. Its just like Orijen but at a price we can afford. Could not recommend it more highly.
I bought this when it was on offer,my Chocolate Lab who is 10 normally has James wellbeloved cereal free,as this was the same price but you got a few more kgs for the price,I gave it a try. My Dog did not hesitate to eat it,and has had no problems with it. Her stools are nicely formed! And her coat is still nice and shiny, and her mobility is very good.
I've been looking for an affordable high meat content food for my Rottweiler for some time. I saw this on offer & decided to try it. In the past he has always had runny poos when changing food no matter how slow the change over. Not so with this! And he has more energy. He had been having JWB large breed turkey & rice for some time, but last year, a few months after his 6th birthday, he started slowing down & gaining weight. I did hours of research into the ingredients of dry dog foods. Purizon is 1 of the best if you want to give your dog a near natural, high quality, dry food diet. My only criticism is that the kibble is a bit too small for a greedy large breed dog.
This dog food is really nice. It's hard to get grain free dog food. I firmly believe that a grain free diet is beneficial to humans as well as dogs. Grains are not traditionally a large part our diet or theirs. This has good quality ingredients, the dogs love it and its doesn't upset the digestion like some foods i've tried and my cavalier's colitis has cleared up completely. Would recommend this Purizon dry dog food to anyone.
An excellent food for an OK price. It makes Dexter very gassy, but I have discovered if I mix it 50/50 with Lukullus the gas goes away. He gets the benefit of 2 great foods and enjoys the 2 different textures too!
I fed my 2 staffies James well beloved puppy food and found they were occasionally loose with bowel movements. Once they turned one I introduced them gradually to Purizon. They both love the taste and wolf it down however they have been making some awful smells. They were extremely loose for a good month and just seem to be getting used to it and back to normal now after a couple of months. I would recommend this but you may have to stick with it for a bit until they adjust.
My dogs love this stuff, and its is pelleted in small discs, ideal for using as training treats. A large bag lasts for ages, so makes it very good value
Was finding it so hard to successfully feed my very fussy American Akita, but this product has done it! She loves it, and finishes it all! Great composition, has exactly what dogs need without the added rubbish you find in most market dog foods. Very similar to Orijen, but so much cheaper. Definitely recommend, Great Quality dog food.
We have been using this food as a treat, but I wanted to review it in any case. The composition is great and it has the perfect kibble size. It's great for training the dogs, during a walk.
Great food - my friends dogs who tends to avoid dry food entirely really likes this. Would recommend.
We bought this for our 9 year old Russian Black Terrier, who had a problem with colitis, when he was showing signs of tiring of his Arden Grange Ocean White Fish & Potato (the only thing that had cured the colitis problem). We carefully phased the new biscuit in with the old over 4 weeks and at first he seemed to enjoy it although the kibble is smartie-sized which is tiny for a large breed to manage in its teeth. Once his ration became predominantly Purizon he stopped eating it and we had to pick out the AG biscuits from the mix to make a sufficient meal for him. We had also noticed an increasingly worsening flatulence problem; smells so evil I can't describe them! I don't doubt the quality of the food but he doesn't like it so we are going back to Arden Grange and are also trying Wafcol salmon & potato large breed (with big kibble) as an alternative mixer.
Completely agree with everything the previous reviewer said, particularly about his dog's stools being softer. My dog has issues with his anal glands and needs as solid a stool as possible! So, even though Orijen is almost twice the price, I'm going back to it.
We're switching from Orijen to Purizon and our Bulldog seems to love it, it works out a lot cheaper especially if you buy in bulk and I thought I'd give it a try, very happy so far :)
I have fed my bull terrier on Orijen for some time, but thought I would try this food since the composition is very similar and I was pleased to see it was made in the UK. The food has a very strong smell and is shiny in appearance. My dog liked it well enough, but his stools were not as well formed as when he is fed Orijen. In short this appears to be quite a good food, but I'm sticking to Orijen from now on
Charlie my chocolate labrador used to eat Arden Grange but I found he was always hungry with it.I tried him on Orijen and Taste of the Wild and he loved both.I seen this food and tried him with it and he is enjoying it every bit as much for less cash.I recomend this food and will be keeping him on it
I swap to this food every few months from Orijen for my Staffy and Rottie and they love it. It appears to not be very well known on forums and food analysis sites but i can assure you that it isn't too far behind in quality. However, be wary that it is a high calorie food and will give dogs a lot of energy.
I was drawn to this product because the ingredients seem to be very high quality and the price is good relative to products of comparable quality. On the positive side, I believe my dog's muscle tone has improved. He was already very sporty, but the additional protein seems to have been needed. On the negative side, he has had room-clearing flatulence and his poo has been inconsistent since he started taking this. We carefully managed a tapered transition (over three weeks!), so as to give his system time to react to the new food. He hasn't adjusted to it, so, after a two month trial, I am giving up. I'm convinced that higher protein food is worthwhile though, so he is now in the middle of a three week transition over to Taste of The Wild. His flatulence has almost gone and his poo is nearly normal again.
My dog is incredibly picky when it comes to food and will go hungry rather than eat something he does not like. With Purizon he cleared his plate in the quickest time ever and did not leave a scrap, very unusual for him. He also suffers from allergies, yet did not scratch or have altered bowel movements after eating Purizon. The problem is that it is twice the price of his usual brand for a smaller amount, so although I may get the odd bag for a treat, I can not afford for it to be his everyday food.
i have decided to change my five adopted dogs to this food as recommended by a friend as my previous choice was getting so expensive and all of them eat every scrap and now have added my foster dog to it and she loves it! a good size bite for my dogs and older dog to get through
My flat-coated retriever just loved this dry food. He is a fussy eater, but Purizon convinced him right-away. The kibble is really similar to the Orijen one, really good smell, fresh, high meat content. I cannot recommend this food more. Will report on the health and well-being impact later on.
Pleasantly surprised by this product, as I had never heard of this before. My very fussy Golden Lab likes both flavours, but seems to prefer the Chicken one. Well done zooplus - five stars from me :)
