It’s empty in here!
great size for the money! My hamster seems happy about his upgrade:)
Easily the best hamster/gerbil cage I have found on the market so far. It’s incredibly well made and a great size. It’s also easy to take apart and put back together when cleaning it.The price point is great for a cage of this size.
As a first time hamster owner I wanted to give my russian dwarf a lot of space for him to play. This is so mucn room and more...Very impressed :)
Love the Alaska it’s not expensive and it meets the recommended minimum requirements for a hamster which is 80cmx50cm. You can add so much in the cage the hamster will never be bored. Was worried about my hamster escaping after reading a few reviews but if the safety bar is fitted over the door correctly the hamster will not be able to escape
It's such a good size for the price. Recently adopted another hamster and I'm going to be getting her one as well.
My hamster got the door open easily by climbing to the top of the cage and putting weight on the bar above the door as the bars are very flimsy. luckily we managed to get him back safe and sound after spending a few days on a holiday inside our kitchen wall!(it took us a while to locate him). this cage has loooooooads of space. far bigger than it looks in the pictures. I would recommend zip tying the side door shut and then you'll be fine. this is what we have done and he hasn't escaped since.
Arrived quick. Massive cage, can fit in loads of toys And my hamster still has room to mooch around
This cage is superb!! It’s absolutely huge and very good value for money. Others have mentioned that the doors can be fairly easy pushed open by the hamster. However, there are small (easy to miss) hooks at the top of the doors and you need to hook the sides of the doors behind them. My children are unable to open the cage, let alone our Houdini hamster. Also, when you use pliers to squeeze all hooks the cage will retain its shape when changing the substrate. This is a fantastic buy
I bought this cage for my daughter Syrian hamster, best choice I made. He has so much space to roam, never used his igloo, but uses everything else, I can hang stuff from the top too. It was a pain to put together St first, but once it's together it has stayed together.100% recommend
A few months ago my mummy got me from Pets at Home. She bought a cage the same day for £25 pounds. I was soooooo bored in there!! There wasn’t room for any toys :(. And the biggest wheel she could fit in there for me was 7 inches. It was so hard to run on so I didn’t use it much. Now she has bought me the Alaska for just an extra £5 and I am over the moon!!! There is room for a 12 inch wheel and loadsssss of toys! The shelf it comes with isn’t the best but for the money it’s the best roomy cage!
I got this cage for my first hamster and I can tell you she loves it!! the black upper level allows the hamster to see what your up to and the whole cage is just brilliant!! love it
My Cassie loves this cage and the space it gives her to run around. It allows lots of accessories and the correct sized wheel whilst still giving her some free space. However the bars are a little flimsy and if you buy it I recommend that you zip tie the actual bar bits together at the corners so the frame stays in the right shape when you clean it 😊
I have 6 of these cages there fab value and is slightly above the minimum standard
This cage is extremely good value and satisfies the minimum size for syrian hamsters. It is a little fiddly to get all of the metal frame to go together at first, and when the frame is removed for cleaning the metal clips holding it onto the base fall off, but this is easily fixed with pliers. I also felt the need to secure the top door with a bulldog clip as didn't seem overly secure, but this is not a problem as I do not need to open this door often. Both the doors are a great size.
This cage is a great size honey my hamster loves it
On Saturday our hamster managed to open his own cage door! I'm not joking, he climbed to the top of his cage and the weight on the bars he created managed to open the door quite easily. We tried it with one of our fingers, and sure enough, by pressing on the roof of the cage, the door slid open! we have found him today and zip tied the side door. Just for anyone else with this cage to be wary of. Other than this a really, spacious and lovely cage!
Cannot fault this cage, absolutely perfect. No bars were bent in transit (my biggest concern) and I don't find the bars flimsy, either, as some people have said. There is one corner of the cage that has a gap small hamsters might be able to wriggle out of, but as others have suggested, just use some zip-ties to fill it and it will be fine. The base is strong and sturdy, the doors are enormous, and the wire top stays together when you lift it, which is rare for a flat-packed cage. Five stars!
It is huge, resistant, it have a light weight and it is cheap! I have been months looking for cages and this is the best! And my syrian hamster is so happy! It is light weight. That is important for me because I have to move the cage all nights out of my bedroom and this weight is so comfortable!
I read all the reviews both negative and positive. Majority positive and not every cage will be perfect. I decided to buy the cage and see for myself. I am very happy with the cage and its large. Such a good price for what it is. Glad I took the chance. My daughters hamster loves it and hasn't bitten the bars since moving to this cage.
Love this cage. Hamster loves his new big house after being in a multi level cage (rosewood one). Hamster chewed bars and broke one on the old cage so knew he’d be happier in bigger one. More room to play with. Well made and sturdy. Love it. 🐹
Absolutely love this cage. We previously had a Rosewood multi layer one before which was too cramped and hard to clean without the hoover! Hamster was chewing bars and one broke. This Alaska cage is much sturdier and with loads of space for toys it is impressive for such a good price too £29.99. Would definitely recommend for a Syrian hamster.
He loves it
The cage is brilliant, it's a great size that meets the minimum requirements for Syrian and Dwarf hamsters. I was worried about the bar gaps being too big for my Dwarf but I've had it over a month now and I'm not even slightly worried about him escaping. The gaps are fine and the cage is so big that he has so much to do that he doesn't want to escape! He's not a big fan of the house, he sleeps under the platform, so I'd recommend getting a couple of other hidey houses to put in there.
This cage is great for the money...its huge and looks good to.
its a large enough cage with an extra floor thats very easy to clean. plenty of space to access the inside and plenty to add space to burrow.
I have pleasantly surprises when i got the cage, i did not realize it was so huge! My dwarf hamster loves the new cage. I was able to fit a 32 cm wheel without taking much space. Highly Recommended!
The cage is a very good size and quality, two opening door with a large space to interact with your animal. It also has a deep base for lots of bedding. Putting it together is fairly easy however getting all of the hooks to fit together was a little difficult. My two boys love having the extra space to roam and it’s big enough for all of their toys and two wheels which has made them happy. Would definitely recommend
Our Syrian hamster, Poppy, loves her new cage. She used to have a Ferplast Laura cage, and this about three times the size. There is plenty of space for toys and the sides on the base are high enough that they prevent spillages when Poppy digs and moves her things around. Although the cage is big, it's not huge, and fits the top of our Ikea Malm chest of drawers perfectly. I would recommend this cage - at this price (£32) I don't think you'll find anything bigger or better.
I love this product. It gives my hamster enough room to run around and looks great. I can easily access my hamster through the wide doors and change his toys without having to take the entire top off. The one bad point I have is that when you take the wire lid off it collapses. I know this is to make it easy to transport but it’s slightly annoying. However I would really recommend this cage to any hamster owner. I’m sure your hamster will love it as much as mine does.
Any rat owners looking for a bonding cage or a cage to keep unwell/recovering rats quieter this is the one for you :) bar space is good for small and large rats alike. This is not a suitable permanent living space for a rat or anything larger!
I rescued a Syrian Hamster that sadly was found in a 10 inch round cage with nothing but a toilet roll he couldn't fit in to play with... I saw this cage and thought I will get that, wow it's massive, the new guy doesn't know what to do with all the space. Well he's never got off his massive wheel yet. There's so much scope you can play with in designing the area Hamsters won't get board EVER. IT was simple enough to put together, excellent value. Buying another for my other Syrian Hamste.
Freda was in a small cage and bored so her human ordered the Alaska cage for her. The cage is HUGE and Freda is one very very happy Syrian hamster. Easy to build up, loads of room for toys etc. FANTASTIC value for money. Delivery ...ordered it Tuesday and received it on Thursday. Freda says a big thank you !!!!
Bought this cage and received it today! It’s wonderful! Great value and so much scope for you to make the cage you want it
What an amazing cage! Easy to assemble, great value for money and it has given my hamster enough space to have fun and explore safely, he has stopped bar-biting and monkey-baring. It needed cable ties to ensure that it was super sturdy even when I need to move it but they were easy enough to come by. Would definitely recommend for syrian hamsters.
This is a fabulous cage for a fabulous price! Lots of room for toys etc. It's so much bigger than Lily's old cage and although she's only just moved into it, she's having great fun exploring and building her nest and I think she'll be very happy.
Perfect for my hamster loves it's but only thing dosent come with a bottle for the price the cage is huge needs to come with a bottle but all in all great for Syrian hamsters
Needed a cage big enough for a 12" wheel. This has loads of space for big wheel, tubes, hammock and litter tray. If the clips were more robust that attach cage to base I would have given 5* - so far so good with them but I might look for an alternative just in case! Overall a great size cage for a syrian hamster. Bars are perhaps thinner than others I have had but they do the job and at a reasonable price so I'm very happy and so is Elmo! Delivery in about 4 days and easy to assemble.
So, so pleased with this cage. I had bought a Barney cage a couple of years ago, which is also excellent but huge. This cage is a bit smaller and much more manageable to lift and clean. The large front door is especially useful and lets you get close to your pet while they are in the cage. I was so pleased with this cage and had to separate my dwarf hamsters that I bought two! Now they each have their own space, one in a Barney and two in Alaska cages, all from Zooplus!
Amazing cage for the price massive and is a big hit to my little hamster snowbell
For the money, the Alaska cage is amazing - and it's no wonder it is a firm favourite of various hamster forums. It meets the generally recommended minimum size of 80x50cm floorspace (as recommended by Wood Green Animal Charity, amongst others), and it's the cheapest cage to do so. The plastic shelf feels a bit flimsy, but that's the only real criticism I can make. My dwarf hamster is now happily residing in the cage. Some may also find the fact that it folds for storage a bonus feature.
