Item was damaged on arrival (split and chipped) but cant be bothered for the hassle of sending it back. I would NOT recommend this for evening or night time use. The bottom floor is not safe/secure (lifts up) so predator can easily gain access to your pet! The top has no lock for the roof so again they can easily lift it up and get to your animal. I purchased this for a Tortoise run/enclosure but I would NOT use it for my rabbit or my chickens as its asking for trouble! DEATH!
I bought this house last summer along with the octagonal run to use for grazing for my guinea pigs. Unfortunately i was cleaning it out in a hurry one day i was sliding the floor back underneath and put it in the wrong and it jammed, its been there ever since. It makes cleaning out a lot tougher but other than that never had a problem with it. Its fairly weather proof and durable and i use it all year round.l consider buying it again in future. Perfect for a hidey den attached to a run.
I was on another web site and the same sort of house was £36.99 and then your page has them for way cheaper I HOPE I GET IT FOR MY BIRTHDAY :)
Bought this for my 2 guinea pigs in 2011. Easy to assemble and a nice size. I did have to make 2 modifications to it. One was to glue some little wooden strips to the ramp as they were having difficulty gaining purchase on the smooth wood. The other was gluing a bit of hardboard to the doorway to make the opening smaller (good size for a rabbit...bit too big for piggies). The one thing that did annoy me with it was that the lid sometimes slides off it's hinges and trying to get it back on takes a bit of patience! I haven't used it for a while as i got another guinea and it wasn't really big enough for 3...especially as one of the girls is a bit of a stroppy cow and likes to commandeer the best spot.
I originally bought one hutch to go inside a run to provide a warm and dry refuge from the rain. I was so impressed that I then purchased another two for the other runs, however bunnies do like to chew and one hutch is missing a leg and another is 80% knawed away. The latter despite being painted with bitumen! I would recommend that if you bunny is a "chewer" that you cover the legs with wire mesh or similar protection.
Excellent product, easy to put together and seems very sturdy. My young grandchildren are very pleased with it as they can watch and play with their pets outside as well as in now. Also bought the sun net(simple to install) and an outside hutch to attach to the run. I will be shopping with zooplus again.
We have had one of these runs for 4 years with 2 of the Trixie Natura small pet houses. Our 2 guinea pigs absolutely loved using it. The run is a good size and easy to move around the garden. However please be careful, last week a polecat managed to get in our run and killed the 2 guinea pigs. I still like the overall design of the run but in future I will put some chicken wire around the edges.
We are new to the guinea pig owning world. We bought this and the small outdoor hutch that comes with it. The hutch is lovely, the run looks a bit wonky but will do the trick. However, just make sure that your piggies don't fit through the gaps! One of ours did and made a break for the fence! We have just spent a very tense hour trying to get him back and I am very pleased to say that we caught him. I would have felt really dreadful if we had lost him. I know we were stupid but please learn from our mistake and wait until yours are big enough not to squeeze through.
I now have seven runs for my 8 buns and 2 piggies and they all love them. Only downside is the sun covers - as they are attached with velcro it takes my lot only a few minutes to chew through the straps! It would be good if you could make the covers with some kind of clips that the buns cant destroy! However, that aside, they are definately the best runs I have every had (and I've had a few over the past 25years)...
Think I confused my purchase with the other small pet hutch. This is the one I purchased. A great buy for a visit to the garden attached to a run for my in door house dwarf rabbit, while I hang washing out and cut lawn and stuff. She sat in it until she was ready to explore the outside air and grass. Would recommend to anyone who has an indoor rabbit who is not locked in a cage day and night, for those garden visits.
This run is really good, the larger run is an excellent size and my rabbits love it. Gives them plenty of room to stretch up and run about. Easily assembled, however, once assembled really needs two to move it (as you end up bending the pins if you do it alone). It can be taken down and stored flat no tools required! With the various doors and hatches it can be paired up with a hutch or small animal box to provide somewhere to hide. We had a tarpaulin made to fit across the top to protect from inclement weather. Unfortunately, our rabbits chewed through the velcro fastenings on the sun protection sheet!
bought the large version and it is the best run ive ever had, its huge and the rabbits love it as they can stand up and everything. i would however suggest printing off the instructions from here first as i was to discover their were no instructions in the box, struggled to put it together then to find when i finished that the instructions were on here
excellent service, ordered mon came thurs morning, good quality run easy to assemble, i have ordered many things from zooplus, they keep there prices low and despatch items quickly many thanks
i got the larger of the sizes for my pair of rabbits. Perfect size, and easily put together, good quality, the only thing that was abit naff was the base, which is plastic (a good thing, better hygeine) but something wasnt put together right as the plastic bowed up abit making it not slide in and out particully well, but its only a little nuisance. Apart from that great product
I brought this for when my cats are outside and caught in the rain if im at work. they both love it. fit my 2 1yr old cats perfectly as they love to snuggle. im going to buy another one though because they are getting bigger and soon wont both fit.
My GPs and rabbits share this shelter when in the run together. They all love it. It is big enough for my 2 large GPs and 2 small rabbits to share. It is easy to assemble and well built. My only criticism is that the ramp is a bit slippery for the GPs and could do with some rungs.
I bought this for my guinea pigs as it was the biggest size I could find and it is brilliant! My guinea pigs love running around and I have filled it with lots of toys and things for them to do. Only thing I would suggest is cable tie all around the top and this is a very secure run. (I have uploaded a picture)
This is the 3rd Trixie run i've purchased for my rabbits and i'm very pleased with it. Even though it was the largest size it was easy enough to assemble without any assistance. Two of these runs have been left outside for many seasons but they show no signs of weathering except for a little rust on the door-chain. One of my rabbits is clever enough to open a sliding door latch so i have to clip it closed for safety. Although i've found Trixie runs to be well made, they're not always thoughtfully made when it comes to adapting them to align with or secure to other Trixie products.
bought for my horsfield tortoise to shelter from rain and sleep out in fitted the job to perfection
This is without doubt the best thing I have ever bought for my guinea girls! I actually bought the run elsewhere about a year or two ago and I am in no way disappointed! I bought the largest available for my two girls and I finally have a run that I feel they are totally safe in. Before this I was using a homemade run, and I really was worried leaving them out for the day with something without a secure roof, I have two cats and one in particular is a real mischief so I didn't dare leave them alone in it. This is great as it has its own roof and I feel happy leaving them out all day in this. I'm really confused by the previous review saying their guineas escaped because the spacing in the bars is about two inches wide and I can't imagine that happening at all. I really can't recommend this highly enough, when the weather starts to get nice I set it up in the garden and leave it there til pretty much winter and it is totally up to the job. I'm considering getting a second and combining the two. I really really encourage anyone considering it to buy one, its been perfect for my two girls.
i had a broody hen that needed a cosy and comfatable environment for her as well as her eggs/chicks when they hatch. the house sits in the run so that the mother hen can take her chicks out as well as keep them warm at night (or if she wants a afternoon rest) it has enough space for quite a while until they get too big in which case they roost on top!!!
My two guinea pigs love this run what are some people talking about my two piggies can't escape don't bother with the sun shade I used old towles which work equally well don't buy the small one to small ANYTHING especially large rabbits I brought it AGAIN ONCE for old Parsnip and another for the 4 girls so overall this has made seven piggies happy I've even seen my two other pigs Cinnamon and Tabasco who have the same size run in wood eyeing it up.
This is a excellent run,it's large and has good head space for my rabbits to stand up. It has enough space for eveything my rabbits need. Its in my bedroom and is a really good shape. Very good delivery aswell as it was fast. Easy to put up too and no screwdrivers needed. Best of all my rabbits love the extra room =]
This is fab! I have added it onto my exsisting run for more play space and when the weather is nice, I put it on the grass. A bit heavy to move by yourself, but it is a large pen! l worth the money although I wouldn't leave buns in it overnight.
We got the biggest size of Trixie outdoor metal run after getting the classic wooden 6ft x 3ft run and it rotting through but there is no comparison with the metal run. This is SO much bigger, so much head room for our binkying rabbit, so many doors for easy access, so much space and seems roomier because you don't have the lumps of wood holding it all together. Our rabbit loves it, it is the best we have found next to letting her out and running around the garden. You do need 2 people to move it but we found you need 2 people to move the wooden one anyway, so no hardship there. If you want a happy bunny, this is the one to go for! Popcorn (our rabbit) recommends it!
i think it was very good for its price my bunnies love it
Bought this for our 2 dwarf rabbits, it is very sturdy and is easily moved onto fresh grass. It gives them plenty of space to run about and is easy to fix a rain cover to if we want to. There are plenty of big openings and some small ones too (they are still darn tricky to catch, but that's not the fault of the run!). Would recommend.
This is a fantastic product really strong easy to put up and taken down ideal for rabbits guinea pigs, chickens or even as a puppy pen. Very pleased!!!
This product is absolutely brilliant. There is so much room for my rabbits and all their toys and tunnels. It is a solid construction and really easy to assemble. I would recommend it to anyone!
My two indoor cats Solar and Pawpi love this outdoor enclosure, which we secured to the front of the Trixie Natura hutch. It allows them freedom to go outside, whilst being safe and secure. The structure is sound and pegs are provided for securing to the grass. Recommended.
I had real trouble finding a run that I considered large enough for my two Dwarf French Lops. The runs that are integrated into wooden hutches are simply NOT large enough for even the smallest bunny. Rabbits need oodles of space to bounce around in, stretch and binky. I bought two of the largest size of this run and linked them together and it works brilliantly. I don't use the top of the run as mine can't jump out of it (yet!) and they only use it as a daytime lawn run - this means I can use it to cover a larger area of lawn. I do not think it is secure enough for a permanent run as I don't think it is fox proof. I certainly wouldn't risk it as it is quite flimsy. The built in doors are very useful as are the slide up hatches. It is very easy to move around and stores totally flat when not in use. The slide in rods, for securing the corners, bend easily but if you take a little care, its no problem. For the money, this is a brilliant run. I'm saving up for another one so I can make their area even larger out on the lawn!
Hi I bought the larger of the two runs for my netherland dwarfs a year ago. I use it for my dwarfs on a nice day as they are house rabbits. In response to the people who say it is difficult to catch your rabbit....what would you expect? Its a big pen, either open the end and climb in or train your rabbits to come to you. As its self assembly and not rigid, it is difficult to move yourself but it can be done in small shuffles. My pen has been outside all year at a seaside location (salt normally destroys everything!)the pen is not rusty apart from the clips for the small hatches on either side. The chains and clips became stuck and rusty within a month but they are easy to replace. Overall I would recommend this product as mine has survived the winter gales, snow and rain, and more importantly has provided a large safe area for my bunnies to enjoy.
I really do like this run. It's very practical and folds down nicely when you're not using it. Loving all the doors, but find that, as I connect a lot of runs together (I have two of these and other ones), it needs a door or hatch on both the long ends, not just one, so that I can create a really long space for the animals, or to have a hutch at both ends (for guinea pigs). The only other problem is as I have to move along the grass on my own a lot, the four connecting rods scratch deep lines into the lawn, although I really like how easily they function otherwise. Maybe the makers could find a way of more easily connecting two up together as well as I do this myself with various bits of wire and bricks but it could be more secure.
I use my wooden house in the run, the rabbit jump on top to relax and go in it to hide when I'm going to put them away !! this is good as the lid opens so they are stress free to be caught, just pop up the ramp open the lid and no stress for me or rabbits :) I have one in each run here at my rabbit rescue, thank you.
Just bought two, they are perfect in a big run, great size, great quality, great price and thanks for quick delivery and hassle free transaction.
I brought this product as a sleeping house for my aylesbury ducks:jamima puddle duck and miss waddle and they love it its safe and warm and perfectly sized for them now I have two very happy ducks!!!!!
My bunnys loves it and I don't need to worry anymore if they are outside it starts raining and I am at work. Easy to assemble.
I bought one of these for my rabbits but found it was great for guinea pigs too. If you put it in the run then guinea pigs can go underneath it too, which they love. And rabbits can jump on top of it. It's easy to clean out with the roof on hinges, which is handy. And overall it's very good. It'd be a good size for cats too, if they live outdoors and dog kennels are too big.
I brought this product, as one of my hens have hatched 5 baby chicks out and wanted some temporary housing for them, I had a rabbit ark but not big enough for mother to flap her wings! So I put some posts in the garden with wire around it. The Trixie Natura Small Pet House was put in a very good size mother and chicks will fit in when they're 6-8 weeks old a very good quality pet housing product. I will be buying more for my Serama bantam trio and other smaller poultry and quail.
i thought it would be much smaller but it turned out to be huge . my guinea pigs loved and when it was bath time they wanted to have their bath in the hutch
