Not suitable for guinea pigs without your major DIY skills
Its a lovely looking hutch with animal friendly paint so it has a muted/whitewashed appeal. The parts went together easily, although there was one screw missing for the hinge. The main problem is the human appeal is not matched by the practical needs of guinea pigs. The access and ramps connecting the two levels are too steep and sheer. Purchased with a plan to convert it, I didn't appreciate just how much I would have to adapt and problem solve. Now 3 storeys with C&G access and working!
Not Really For Guinea Pigs
I have to say that I loved this Cage But My Guinea Pigs don't. I've made many adjustments to the cage to try and make it suitable for my Guinea Pigs but I'm now looking to buy a different cage. The problem is my Guinea pigs will NOT go down the ramp and I have made many adjustments to try and solve the problem. I have put sides on the ramps to make it safer, I have adjusted both ramps so that they're not as steep, I had to sort our the top ramp as the drop was to big and the gap was too wide.
Strong and well made
A beautiful indoor hutch but unfortunately had to return it as I found that it was not suitable for Guinea Pigs. Ramps were too steep and where they connected to the platform, there was a half inch gap which could trap Guinea feet. Would be great for Rabbits.
Has Advantages and Disadvantages
Is a very nice looking cage with plenty of space to run about and play. I brought for my 2 guinea pigs but I would say that from the ramp to the top area the is quite a big jump which is on a angle so not really ideal. Also guinea pigs like to have a private area to sleep so it’s somewhere a bit dark but the top part is open with bars so not as private. It’s good for the price but it’s got pros and cons.
Fast delivery, great cage for my guinea pigs I love it.
Very impressed with speedy delivery, found it very quick to assemble. Most importantly one very happy bunny plenty of room for him to play and move around when inside
Excellent hutch for indoor rabbit
I have owned this hutch for about 6 months. I would say it is an excellent hutch. My rabbit loves it. Has lots of space for him to hop around. I find it easy to keep clean as the trays slide out. My rabbit is very well behaved and has not chewed the wood at all. The hutch looks as good today as the day i put it together.
This has been the best indoor cage for our two very large male guinea pigs. They were starting to squabble in their previous cage and we bought this one because we could separate them if necessary. However, since having the extra space, they have been best of friends again. It took them nearly a month to confidently use the ramp and they chewed up the wood a lot in the early stages (hence 4 rather than 5 stars). Once that were more settled though this stopped. I would highly recommend this product.
Excellent indoor hutch
Very pleased with this large hutch which will accommodate my 3 Guinea pigs over the winter. My only reservation is that the 'lid' is starting to buckle as it is the perfect viewing platform for my cats.
Overall not great!!
Got this for my two guinea pigs who love it! It was pretty easy to build but they chew on the soft wood a lot and it's pretty damaged on the inside even though we only have it a few weeks. Also I find it nearly impossible to clean. It would make more sense if the sides opened so it could be cleaned out. Even though it looks good and the guinea pigs are happy if I could get a different cage I would!
Good cage but guinea pigs love to chew it
Arrived quickly and gives my guinea pigs enough space. However two pieces arrived damaged and apparently were not able to be replaced. I was offered a replacement item but would have had to repackage it which is almost impossible. It is much nicer to look at in the home if you have the space than other cages available and is relatively easy to clean out. Beware guinea pigs cannot resist chewing the soft wood used to make the cage and we have had to line the accessible inside wood with harder wood or there would be nothing left of it!
Very good cage
I bought this cage for my 10 year old daughter for her to guinea pigs. It came in two day and was fairly easy to build our guineapigs seem to love it but beware it is very big
100% worth the money, does take some brains and some time to assemble though! Worth it in the end as my 4 guinea pigs love it. Thankfully you can separate the levels with a trap door, which stops my pigs from fighting on their grumpy days! Plenty of space, I'm happy and so are my little pigs! 10/10! A must have!
I bought this double story "mansion" for my two dwarf bunnies (only 9weeks old) and they love it. It was delivered before my requested date but fortunately my neighbour took it in. Great value bought at the previous price of €169 and took a little bit of DIY know-how to get it together. They have plenty of room to scamper around. I did take out the dividing arch wall on the top floor as they snuggled up together in a cardboard box in the corner and had that little bit of extra room to use without the divider. I'm buying again from Zooplus and hope I'll be as happy with my next order.
four very happy guinea pigs
I ordered this cage on the 18th Sept the delivery was excellent and I received the cage on the 20th Sept. The cage took about 40mins to put together and once assembled its very sturdy, I would make sure you have enough space for the cage as it is big, very big there is enough space for my four guinea pigs their house, tunnel, toys and feeding bowls. The ramps up to the second level are wide enough so the guinea pigs feel safe going up and down them and the sleeping area is a good size. I would recommend this cage if you want very happy pets
Fast delivery, easy to assemble with two people though I did manage with a bit of a struggle alone. Very sturdy fancy looking and huge cage/hutch. My two bunnies love it, can separate into two single areas please note to measure up as this is a very large indoor cage. Very happy with my purchase!
hard work to assemble
is a gd sized cage, quite difficult to assemble but very pleased when got it together,is strong and my skinny pigs and guinea pigs love it.looks far better than the plastic type cages for ur livingroom.my girls r very happy living in it,would recommend,is a gd price and looks the part.
Love this cage!
This cage is superb. I have three guinea pig in it with plenty of room, they just love running up and down the stairs, it wears them out which can only be a good thing! I never normally write reviews but if you're thinking of buying this then do it! You won't regret it. I've also uploaded a picture too.
bought this back in August for our 3 skinny pigs, its a great product only problem being that only our male has learnt how to go up the ramp, he loves it as he can get away from the girls and I put extra food up there so he has a little peace once in a while, so the top part is under used but I do use it to put the piggies in with the top shut off while I clean the bottom of the cage out. The girls have learnt to go down the ramp. I am considering building up the sides of the ramp to see if that helps.
Great cage for guinea pigs
We bought this for out 3 pigs as they grew out of their old cage and are very pleased with the quality, sturdiness, and how nice it looks in our living room. Be aware though that this is not a small cage so measure your space to make sure it fits. It's pretty easy to clean as the doors open wide and the trays pull out, and you can easily lock your pets on one level while cleaning the other. The only modification we've had to make was to secure the lower ramp to the platform between the two ramps as one of our pigs kept pushing it underneath to loosen is from the hooks it's attached with. The pigs took a few days to learn to use the ramps but managed to figure it out on their own and now run back and forth between the levels. Our pigs absolutely love it!
This has given our GP a new zest for life
There is no getting away from it, this is a large cage so not one for the feint hearted guinea pig owner, but if you are committed to the clean out process which takes time, then your guinea pig will thank you for it. Ours at over 7 yrs old is tearing up and down the ramps (after a nervous start) wheeking and rumbling to her hearts content. I can't believe we kept her in a small plastic cage for so long, this has given her proper quality of life.
Matilda loves it. She didn't at first like the pull out trays and we thought we would be deafened by the loudest thumping we had heard, but after putting in some carpet tiles things settled down. She has plenty of room, and can jump in and out when we leave open the trap door. We like the materials used. The wood is of well above average quality and the plywood exceptional. We stained the outer white parts to match the furniture. Everything fitted perfectly and was easy to assemble.
Fab u lous!
We have just bought this for our daughters three new Gps for a birthday present. This is a great hutch and our new babies seem to love it too. Agree with some other reviews that the wood shavings escape at the sides of the hutch but some small additions of wood will remedy this (would expect quite easy to do) All in all a great hutch at a great price
Amazing value and HUGE size
I cannot praise this hutch highly enough. I have used it for both my standard rex buck and now I have both levels seperated with the handy trap door and have my sow piggies up top and my boars downstairs. They have oodles of room and the whole thing was tremendously easy for me to assemble on my own, I think I managed it in about 20 minutes or so. It was a toss up between this hutch and the ferplast version and after seeing both in the flesh this one wins hands down aswell as being at least £50 cheaper. You will not regret buying this hutch/cage and your small furries will thank you for it.
Lovely with a couple of modifications!
I would definitely recommend this hutch for small indoor bunnies. I have two Netherland Dwarves who look tiny in this spacious hutch! We have had it a week now and in that time we have made a couple of improvements to it - firstly, due to the shallow trays, lots of hay was escaping so we have attached a strip of wood down each side to stop the hay getting everywhere. The second issue has been the ramp to the upper floor - one of my bunnies tried to jump up to the top rather than using the ramp and she fell off so we have attached a piece of wood at the top of the ramp so that she has to reach the top before she can get to the upper floor and also so that she can't just jump down at the deepest part of the ramp. The bunnies love it and can hop in and out quite easily, although I have attached a ramp so they can come in and out as they wish without having to jump too much. I think this is a much better alternative to the plastic indoor cages which can be too small; there is plenty of room in this for my bunnies' toys, a food area, a relaxing area with a lovely soft piece of vet bed to lie on, a large litter tray and lots of room to play. They also love sitting on the ledge that joins the two ramps. Another useful feature is being able to close off the top floor, I did this when I was out before I added the piece of wood to stop them trying to jump up. The doors provide easy access and there is plenty of room to lift the bunnies out. The top opens up too for easy access. Overall, I'm very pleased with this bunny house and I think it's great value too.
