...the cats also use the flap. But they already used the previous dog flap and are quite independent and love their freedom (and will overcome any obstacle). It might be more of an issue for timid cats.

We changed our non-insulated PetSafe flap for this one and it really works. It is far more draft-free and insulated! We removed 1 star because the yellow insulation layer isn't great to look at. It doesn't really bother us because the flap is installed in our basement. Also the installation is that easy - you'd need someone who is handy. A YouTube video would be helpful!

This dog flap was delivered last week and I installed it over the weekend. Now it's had it's first durability test with -10°C weather. Obviously the insulation isn't as good as a regular door (it comes close with the plastic slide inserted), but it's much better than our previous dog flap! A great purchase for anyone who suffers from cold feet!!!

Over time, the flexible flap needs to be replaced. How to do this isn’t mentioned.

The cat flap provides excellent insulation in a living space with an open kitchen and an outside door. We had a carpenter install the flap for us. It took a little while to train our cat to use it. From day one, we installed all three flaps, as it does require a bit of force for the cat to push through. This way, our cat got used to it straight away. The closing panel is easy to attach to keep your pet inside.

When there's a stronger wind, the flap door gets blown all over the place. The insulation isn't good either.
