Purizon Senior Black Angus Beef with Turkey - Grain-Free - dog dry food

This was our first time trying this product, and the problems started from day one. My dog started farting constantly, and the smell was honestly awful. The poop was also extremely wet and soft, not firm at all.. and had a very strong smell.

My 14-year-old Creole shepherd used to love the old Purizon senior kibbles with chicken and fish, but apparently you can't find them anymore. I realised these new ones seem to be poor quality, only moderately appetising, her stools are quite large, and my dog seems tired. Now I'm stuck with a big bag!

My dog got really bad diarrhoea from this. I also find the kibble pieces very small, so my dog hardly chewed them. Had no choice but to switch to another food.

Upon closer inspection, it turns out this is just Zooplus’s own brand and it’s not balanced food at all for certain breeds. The name ‘Puur-izon’ made me think it would be rich in meat and grain-free, so I thought it would be a sensible choice. However, since switching, my Swiss Shepherd has had wet, overly dark stools and other issues. I’m forced to buy balanced Royal Canin for shepherds again. The large size and shape of the kibble are good for their teeth, and it’s high-quality dog food specifically for shepherds, with healthy poos!

Good composition, fair price, not much smell (so it’s less appetising), kibble is way too small for an adult dog (maybe they make it like this for seniors? So they don’t have to chew as much). In my case, I bought it for my adult spayed dog (2 and a half years old) because it’s lower in fat and calories, to help with weight control. We’re still transitioning, so I haven’t noticed yet if it suits her or not (we were using Wolf of Wilderness Ruby Midnight before, which didn’t agree with her—soft stools). Bag doesn’t have a ZIP :(

It's a shame that the senior chicken version no longer exists, the black angus seems to be poor quality to me. I think I'll go back to Orijen.

Our Swiss Shepherd is doing well on it. Occasionally her stool is a bit loose, but I’ve now also bought grain-free snacks and things are improving. Before this, we used Wolf of Wilderness, which are also good kibbles, but because she sometimes had loose stools, we decided to try something different.

After trying more than thirty types of dry food with no luck, this food is an absolute hit and gets gobbled up in no time. My two Whippets prefer the small kibbles. They leave the big chunks behind.
