Product description

Dry food for adult dogs that are overweight or in danger of excess weight gain, to help to treat bacterial bladder infections and lower urinary tract infections and dissolve struvite and oxalate stones.

General information:
  • Please seek your vet's advice before using this food or extending the feeding period.
  • When feeding your dog with a veterinary diet you should consult your vet regularly for check-ups.
  • If your dog's health deteriorates please seek veterinary advice immediately.
Dogs have a tendency to suffer from urinary tract infections which can lead to the formation of urinary stones (including struvite and calcium oxalate stones). Royal Canin Urinary S/O Moderate Calorie is a dietetic dry kibble that has been especially developed for dogs that tend towards being overweight. This dry food can be fed to dogs suffering from bladder infections and urinary stones and can help to dissolve already existing struvite stones and crystals. It also helps to prevent the re-occurrence of urinary stones and in the treatment of bacterial bladder infections. The adapted energy content can help dogs that are overweight or in danger of becoming overweight to maintain a healthy weight. The dry kibble is formulated to increase the volume of urine, which in turn has a preventative effect on urinary stones and crystals. It also helps to give the urine a lower relative supersaturation (RSS) value, which reduces the level of ions that produce urine crystals in the urine.

Recommended for (indications):

  • Dissolving struvite crystals/ stones
  • Bacterial bladder infections
  • Prevention of calcium oxalate stones
  • Prevention of struvite stones
Not recommended for (contraindications):
  • Chronic renal insufficiency, metabolic acidosis
  • Cardiac insufficiency
  • Hyperlipidemia
  • Pancreatitis
  • Parallel treatment with drugs that increase urine acidity
  • Lactating bitches, pregnant bitches or puppies
Key benefits:
  • Dissolving struvite stones: The recipe has been designed to help to effectively dissolve struvite stones.
  • Moderate Energy: Adapted energy content to help dogs to maintain a healthy weight – especially for dogs that are already overweight or in danger of excess weight gain.
  • Diluting urine: Increased urine volume to prevent formation of struvite and calcium oxalate stones.
  • Low RSS value: Helps to reduce the level of ions that form struvite and oxalate crystals in the urine.
Further information:
You should make sure to feed Urinary S/o Moderate Calorie exclusively whilst your dog is affected by urinary illness, to ensure the best efficacy. Duration of treatment:
5 to 12 weeks or until the urinary crystals have dissolved. In cases of bladder infection you should continue using this food for at least 1 month after first diagnosis. To avoid danger of re-infection, you should feed your dog a food with the S/O index even after recovery.

No blood in urine and no weight gain
Before S/O my dog gained weight, but with this new food no more and urine stones in the bladder have gone. Successful and no more blood in the urine. The kibble pieces are maybe a bit small as he does not chew and I will have to buy a slow feeder bowl.

Super diet food
Our dog had struvite stones and this food seems to taste good despite being reduced calorie. Bosch is half the price but he did not like it and I had to add meat and veg, which made his illness worse. Since feeding Royal Canin we only have to add fresh cucumber/carrots/apple created into his bowl, which is always emptied. We hope it helps fight his illness.

Perfect
My dog Luna (Border Collie cross) loves eating but tends to gain weight as she is sterilised and suffers from cystitis, so this food is perfect. Since eating it she has not suffered and has lost 2kg
