Great for dog with bladder crystals
:"One of my dogs developed frequency and other problems due to crystals in her bladder. This seems to work. She drinks more and doesn't have frequency any more anyway. She seems to like the taste too."
A complete dietetic dry food for dogs over 1 year of age with lower urinary tract disease. Low magnesium level, restricted protein level. Can help to dissolve struvite stones and reduce recurrence.
If your dog suffers from lower urinary tract disease you can help by feeding it a diet which provides optimal nutritional support for its urinary system. Urinary tract disease can lead to urinary stones (including struvite and calcium oxalate). ROYAL CANIN URINARY S/O products were developed as an adjunctive treatment for cystitis and urinary stones.
Note: Please ensure your dog has correct kidney function before you give your dog Royal Canin Veterinary Diet - Urinary S/O LP 18.
Indications:
Dissolution of struvite crystals and stones
Bacterial cystitis
Prophylaxis of calcium oxalate stones
Prophylaxis of struvite stones
Contraindications:
Chronic renal failure, metabolic acidosis
Heart failure
Hyperlipidemie
Pancreatitis
Parallel use of urine acidifying medication
Pregnant or lactating bitches
Key benefits:
Struvite dissolution: URINARY S/O helps to dissolve all types of struvite stones.
Increased volume of urine: Diluting the urine makes it less liable to form struvite and calcium oxalate stones.
Low RSS: Helps to lower the concentration of ions contributing to crystal formation.
Low magnesium: Reduced level of magnesium, a natural component of struvite crystals.
Changing your pet's diet and length of treatment:
Your pet will need to stay on this diet for 5 to 12 weeks, or until the stones are dissolved. If your pet is suffering from a bladder infection it should stay on this diet for at least a month after diagnosis.
Further information:
Please ensure that during its illness your pet is fed only with URINARY S/O, otherwise the effectiveness of this product may be reduced.

Prevention of uroliths
My Pug really enjoys this. I buy it to prevent bladder stones. My dog has had two expensive operations in the past. We've used this food for more than a year and no more stones!
I just wish it was cheaper.

My little dog has a new lease of life!
My 6yr old Lhasa Apso bitch had been suffering from colitis for some months. She was very unhappy, had lost a lot of weight and had repeated courses of antibiotics and steroids from the vets. Eventually my vet suggested the Royal Canin Hypoallergenic food. She has now been on this for a few months and has a new lease of life! I am delighted. Yes, the food is quite expensive, but not as expensive repeated vets bills! Plus my dog is happy again!

Less pee problems
My dog has been diagnosed with crystals in his urine and the vet advised a diet like this one. Since he's been eating it he's also been drinking a lot more water. In a few weeks we will be returning to the vet to see if the crystals have dissolved. Has anyone else had the same experience with pets drinking more on urinary diets? I would appreciate your opinion! Thankyou.
