This is one of the best water 'fountains' and my cats use it well, which is important for their health being fed a dry diet. I'm also in a hard water area,and limestone is a real problem which these filters keep in check.

We are very satisfied with this fountain and the possibility given by these filters to offer our cats quality water. Without them, the water would be dirty (hair, bacteria) and not as good to drink.

I’ve just received my order of 6 filters, thinking I’d get the blue filters shown in the photo. Unfortunately, I also received 6 white filters that are useless since they don’t fit into the blue holder. Expensive and disappointed.

Be careful, you don't receive the official Cat Mate product but substitutes instead! It's a shameless lie just to sell! It's disgraceful!

You have to check the 3rd photo where they explain (in English, no less) that the filters you’ll receive aren’t necessarily the blue ones you think you’re ordering, but another model (the white ones) which are just a piece of foam (with a lot less charcoal, by the way). According to customer service, who I contacted today, they only send the white ones now and apparently it was up to me to check the text on the 3rd photo... But the price is still the same as for the blue ones!!!

I ordered the set of replacement filters and received the version without the blue protective casing, just a stiffer fabric cover, which is supposed to work the same as the others? They don't have charcoal granules inside... I'm not convinced they'll be as effective.

I ordered Cat Mate filters and to my great surprise, I received generic Closer Pets filters without being notified. I find this practice dishonest, especially since my cat refuses to drink since I replaced the filter. Probably a taste only my cat could explain. I think I’ll have to throw them away. So I’ll probably order other filters. If it turns out I get the same ones again without being told, I’ll close my account for good.

I bought it specifically for my Cat Mate fountain but it doesn’t fit. I had to modify the filter holder inside because there was no way to get it in. My fountain has two compartments and the replacement has three.

These filters release a black residue that contaminates the water. I don’t know to what extent they may have caused urinary problems for my cats. Not only do I not recommend them, but I actually wish they’d be taken off the market.

Very expensive and not very effective, the water gets dirty quickly.
