Fixed the problem
After nearly a year I am still very happy with the Sureflap cat flap. It completely solved problem with local bullies coming in and bashing up my cats and spraying the house. I have just had to change the batteries for the first time and considering how often my cat uses it (2-3 times an hour sometimes) I consider that good. My daughters dog also uses it successfully to charge in and out. The dog is smaller than the cat so fits through fine and it read her microchip just like the cats. I would recommend it to anyone needing to keep other cats out and who's cat doesn't like a collar. The only problem I have had was with fitting as it was larger than my previous cat flap and as it was through a wall I had to get the chisel out!

Sureflap Microchip Catflap
This is a really great product. Very easy to fit and to program. Unfortunately my cat is too fat to fit through it and I had to change to a Pet Porte microchip door which is slightly larger in diameter but much more complicated to program. I wish Sureflap would make a larger model , please !!

Brilliant piece of kit!
We bought one for our 18 month burmese cats about 3 years ago. They had never used a catflap before this. They quickly got used to using it and got used to the click. we had a few problems after a few months with the micro chip reader not working properly. We spoke to the manufacturers about it and they promply sent us another something to upgrade the reader - no problems since. Easy to set up and program - wouldnt be without it - will definately buy one again.

Idiot Proof
This is a brilliant cat flap. Extreamly easy and quick to fit. Fits snuggly into the hole that you cut with no need to fill after. Took our two 18 month old boys (who have never used a cat flap before) about a day to work out, with a little encouragement from us. The click (as it opens and closes) put them off at first but this was quickly ignored when they realised that we were no longer opening the window for them and this was their only way into the outside world. Money well spent on our very first cat flap and would recommend to anyone looking for one.

Absolutely Brilliant.
Amazing bit of kit. Piece of cake to fit. A doddle to program. Quick and easy, no messing.
The cats that used to stroll into our house and terrorize our cats didn't know what hit them and consequently our cat food bill has halved now.
Our cats are so much happier, and the faint click that the flap makes when activated didn't bother our cats at all. They got used to it in a flash. Our tabby is quite large and has no problem fitting through.
Every cat owner should get one of these

purrfect product
I have found this cat flap invaluable. I have 4 cats and they all use it easily and it keeps other cats out. I have peace of mind that my cats can come and go as they please but no other cats can enter my house. It is a brilliant product and works well. The support and after sales from sureflap is excellent.

Pain to secure to the door, but easy to programme
Easy to programme, but a pain to install as you have to line up screw holes exactly to secure both sides to the door. Would be better if you could secure each side individually, as with normal cat flaps. I agree with others that the hole is smaller than normal cat flaps and it is amusing seeing my large cat squeeze through the hole, but he does make it! On the plus side the cat who has been stealing his food is now just a face at the window!

Peace of mind
Easy to fit, very well made and it works superbly. We have a big 6kg cat and he can get through ok. No longer have other cats pinching our cat's food or spraying indoors. Have had a SureFlap for a couple of years and after 18 months had a fault with the original. Sureflaps service dept dealt with the problem and sent us a new (improved) flap with no fuss. Highly recommended and excellent service.

Amazing
Have bought this item based on previous reviews and can I say was not disappointed very easy to work. If you have a rather large cat they may struggle both of mine are just over 4kg and is fine for them.

Absolute must buy!
Bought the sureflap to replace a staywell. It's brilliant - very clean and robust design. Easy to fit into the existing hole - with a little bit of persuasion. Extremely easy to set - just one button - the battery compartment is easy to open too. My cat went through it no problem and was using it within minutes only slightly disconcerted by the click initially but completely over that now. The best thing is that it keeps my pesky neighbours' cats (there are 7 of them) out of my house which was a real nuisance. The click is very quiet compared to similar cat flaps - I had a staywell infrared cat flap previously -the click was annoyingly loud, the batteries were expensive and my cat was constantly losing collar keys which was expensive and meant she was locked out. The two staywells I have had also degraded quickly and the outside lip broke into pieces. The sureflap has a very sturdy design which I am sure will last well. It is slightly smaller than my previous cat flaps but my current cat is a very large ragdoll cross and has no problems with it. Well worth every penny!

Great Buy
I spent a long time researching which cat flap to buy for our new kitten, and loved the idea of a microchip catflap to keep out other cats. I went for the Sureflap as it is battery operated so need for wires trailing. I am 100% happy and would recommend it to anyone. It took a while for our cat to learn how to let himself out, but learned very quickly how to get in when another cat was chasing him! I have total piece of mind that he can get in and out when he wants and don't have to worry about other cats following him into his home. It is a little draughty in the winter, but I imagine this is to be expected with all catflaps.

worth every penny
we had alot of problems with other cats coming into the house. we got a new cat who we rescued from the rspca and we wanted her to feel safe in her own home. the microchip catflap was easy to install, went straight into the hole of the old one. the click frightened her abit to begin with, which meant it kept locking before she got the chance to come in. she has now got used to it and has no problem at all. i recommend this to every cat owner, it not only makes your cat feel safe but it also stops unwanted cats.
i can understand some people saying its to small because it is alot smaller than a normal catflap. maybe it would be a good idea to do this in different sizes.luckily our cat is small so has no problems. excellent product, highly recommended

Size of your cat is important!
I have just had this fitted due to an invading un-neutered bully cat coming into my house.
Beware, I have a large cat who can only just squeeze through with the aid of his back legs off the ground!! It doesn't look very comfortable.
The plastic door itself is not very draft proof and looks like it could easily be broken by the bully boy cat getting upset outside.
My other cat, at the moment will not use it as she is scared of the clicking sound and the enclosed tunnel feeling. But I will continue to help and coax her through. I am hopeful.
I am satisfied with the product as I know when I am out or trying to sleep, the bully cat cannot enter.
Maybe SureFlap need to make two sizes in the future. Or else I will have to buy dog flaps in future, just in case!!

Excellent!
This is an excellent product. I bought it as a way to keep the neighbour's cat out of my house, as he was terrorizing my two cats, and eating all their food. The flap was installed, I found it very easy to program my cats' microchips into it, (just the push of a button actually). It took the young cat some time to get used to it - but after a couple of weeks he was an expert! My older cat, 6 years old, started using it immediately. It has really transformed life - the cats can now go in and out as they please, and there is no threat from the neighbour's cat now. I really love it!

Love the Sure Flap!
This is good for indoor cats also. You can allow skinny cats into a room where they can nibble on food all day while excluding fat cats that need measured feedings!
It works great, was easy to program, and I was able to install it on my own without needing help from another person.

Too posh to push!
My 2 new cats had never used a catflap before. One of them is very nervous & we have had problems with intruders coming through the old flap. I was delighted with the concept of Sureflap & thought it would solve all our problems. However after 4 months I am still in training mode. Started off with batteries out & flap taped open & slowly got both to use it just as open hole - they won't push! Have now advanced to batteries in but still taped open. The younger cat is using it, although still jumping at loud click, but the 3 year old just won't go near it and is terrified of click (despite fact she has used open flap in training mode since July). I can't advance to full flap shut mode until I can get her used to this stage. Help - have tried food bribery & persuasion but to no avail. Am out at work all day. Can anyone help? The weather is getting colder & it's drafty!

Stuck Paws and Escape Artists
We've had our Sureflap for around 6 weeks. It works fine and our cats can come and go as they please. However our cat got his paw stuck in the flap recently, which was pretty horrible. He must have put his paw through, changed his mind and then pulled it back. He obviously panicked which made things a lot worse and squashed his paw. When my partner and I tried to free him his paw got squashed more. After much hysterics I managed to hold the catch down from the inside (putting up with lots of biting, srcatching and howling) while my partner pushed the door from the outside. This set our cat free. It would be interesting to hear if anyone else has had this problem. ?
In addition my other cat managed unlock the unit. The lock was turned to the open position, I presume with his teeth, enabling him to escape in the middle of the night. We were quite astounded at this. Has anybody else experienced this or do we have a master escape artist on our hands?
