Catsan Natural

because all 4 of my cats absolutely refuse to use it. I think it's the smell of the product that puts them off.

We usually buy catsan super clumping litter, but I thought I would give this a go. It's clumping well but does not do a good job in absorbing the smell and pieces of the litter are all over the place which did not happen with the other version.

I was looking for a natural litter that clumps well. In the end, I STRUGGLED with this stuff for 2 months. The clumps turn into a hard, solid mush that's difficult to remove. It sticks stubbornly to the paws, so I found it everywhere—from my shoes to my bed. When it gets wet, it smells like rotten cornflakes. On top of that, it moulds quickly—since it's made from wheat—so flies loved it and laid their eggs everywhere, resulting in maggots. Yuk. Awful, never again.

Never again! The smell that comes off this after just 2 days is awful! Worse than the smell of pee or poo. And just to be clear: it's not a cleaning issue. I remove the poo and pee and everything, but the product itself stinks. I wonder if there's a quality control problem, given that some people say they don't notice any smell... Also, it's really hard to scrape off the clumped urine from the bottom of the tray. It's seriously solid. I'm going back to Cat's Best even if it's more expensive.

I paid today (04/06/2026) €6.39 for 10 litres at the supermarket.... So Zooplus is charging three times more! The product is great for my kittens, by the way.
