GrainCat Cat Litter

I've been trying different types of litter, and this is the best I've found so far when it comes to smell retention, clumping and dust. It's also very economical, so I'll definitely be repurchasing. However, it tracks like crazy, and the bits are quite sharp to step on. And I've discovered a very strange issue with this litter - somehow a few tiny pieces ended up stuck to our bathroom walls (painted, not tiled), and when I tried to remove them they came off with bits of paint!

I don't get what everyone is complaining about in the reviews 😂 I bought it because my usual wheat-based litter is too expensive and the bags are too small. It doesn't create dust, it doesn't smell when it comes into contact with urine or faeces, and it doesn't stick (or at least not more than other litter) to the tray. However, it does stick to their paws, so the cats track it everywhere. One of my cats even tried to eat it because it smells like popcorn. I mixed in a handful of natural clay, and after that it was no longer a snack.

I wasn't completely satisfied with the odour control, and the damp litter also sticks a lot to the plastic bottom of the litter boxes.

I bought this for my ferret, who is trained to use a litter box, and regular litters aren’t good for them. Plant-based clumping litters are usually really expensive, but this one is super cheap, has no smell, and the texture is great. The only thing I don’t like is that it’s really lightweight, and that only affects my ferret, really, because he digs and throws the litter out, and since it’s so light, it makes more of a mess—but that’s just my personal experience. Other than that, it clumps well, doesn’t smell, and controls odours nicely.

Simply good

At first, I didn’t want to order it again. The sticky clump took a bit of getting used to. With the scoop turned upside down, I can get the rest off the bottom easily. My three tomcats took to it straight away. I started off with a mix of corn granules and Grain Cat. It’s super light, doesn’t create dust, has a subtle plant smell, and is much more eco-friendly compared to bentonite. That’s the deciding factor for me to keep using it.

I don’t get all the negative reviews – I’ve been using this litter from the start and it sticks nicely to the tray, plus there’s no smell even though the tray is in the bedroom. The cats are happy and they like digging in it. Maybe the negative opinions are down to the cat’s diet. It did smell a bit, that’s true, but we changed their food and since then it’s been great. The only downside is that it sticks a bit to their paws, but they’ve got really fluffy pads – when we trim them, the problem goes away. It does get tracked around a bit, but a mat sorts that out.

This litter isn’t bad for the price. It absorbs smells and pee; I don’t leave it for days because several cats use it... but I can say this litter is better than many others!

First, the good part: it doesn’t smell at all!!!! But it’s quite hard to remove because it sticks to the floor like jelly and you need some practice to push it onto the scoop, and even then it’s difficult to get it off! And of course, the cat drags it all over the flat on its paws – you can really see it because of the yellow colour!
