It’s empty in here!
We have a Staffy/whippet cross who has been chewing on one of these for about 20 minutes. He has already made serious dents in it and the whole thing keeps disappearing into his gob. He's *really* enjoying it, but I can already tell that I'll end up having to save him from himself so he doesn't choke or get sick. Our fellah is particularly destructive though - his goal in life is to make anything remotely edible almost small enough to swallow and then to try anyway.
I give to my collie and each hoof lasts a week of regular chewing. The very odd hoof she shows little interest in (i guess less flavoursome than others?) so i stuff those with some peanut butter/mushed up baby food/meat puree and she spends ages licking and chewing them. One bag lasts us a few months.
my dogs love these. foster dogs come with filthy teeth, these clean them. all breeds can have them
stinks why would you feel a dogs bone up with cow poop or cow pee but least the dog enjoys it!
For humans, these don't smell that good. Specially when freshly opened. But on the whole, the smell is not too bad and dissipates once removed from packet. For dogs, this is very lasting. Where a dentastix lasts for 5 minutes and cow hide bone lasts for 1-2 hours, these last for a few days. Fits to same catecory as cow hide chew bone, it's something the dog will like to chew, but it's not a treat. Good for visiting places where dog is free on a yard but normally would chew / eat sticks.
It takes my whippet literally days to finish one which is great in terms of keeping them occupied but they smell extremely bad. We used to fill them with peanut butter as an alternative to Kongs when he was teething
My English Springer spaniel just loves these, sometimes we fill them with treats and freeze them.
Apart from the old cow pee fragrance that radiates around the room, the hooves are definitely a hit with our gsd. Just keep airflow moving and you probably won't notice it as much
These hooves are great for stuffing and freezing, and dependent on size and how much they have chewed them down can quite often be stuffed several times. My 2 Dobies love them - highly recommended
All 3 dogs (11 month Greek Harehound, 13 year old pointer/collie, and 7 year old standard dachshund with extreme gastric issues) absolutely go nuts for these. They are soft enough to allow even a fragile elderly dog to chew and nibble the edge ofbyhe hoof she's working on to a soggy and safely digestible state, and although they absolutely reek, they keep the dogs entertained for an hour or more before they give up and lose interest. They seem to want a new one rather than pick up where they left off on the half eaten ones the next day but at this price it doesn't matter! Even my EXTREMELY SENSITIVE TUMMIED dachsie has no reaction to these, because he can't swallow a chunk, they have no option but to chew and nibble the top edge until it gets white and soggy rather than hard and crunchy, and they gradually consume it in tiny soft nibbled fragments so it doesn't cause any upset tummy or vomiting. Have already ordered 60 more as they're such a low fat, safe treat and I can hardly believe the improvement in my dogs' teeth since they've been having them. My old girl used to have brown, thick tartar build up frequently on her back teeth and be prone to red gums but after 2 weeks of calf hooves, her teeth look like those of a MUCH younger dog and her breath is fresh again. Brilliant.
These hooves stink! But they are a great treat. Healthy alternative to rawhide
Our dogs really enjoy these but I would not leave them to chew unsupervised as once they get to the end part when there is only a little piece of the hoof left they get it stuck in their mouth which is a choking hazard. I always take the small left over bit off of them just to be safe
I have 5 dogs all with sparkling teeth thanks to these little gems! Being smoked keeps the flys off and all my dogs have a chewing/gnawing session on them several times a day! Who needs dog toothpaste!
My dogs are obsessed with these, one has to carry one round. I had a foster with disgusting teeth, within 5 days you could see the difference. I cant find anyone as cheap either. I have given these to all sized dogs
These hooves are great for stuffing with mince and freezing - it keeps my dog entertained for ages trying to get it all out. When he is finished he will have a chew on the hoof too, they last forever. I have re-stuffed the same hoof half a dozen times and it is still going strong. Well worth the money!
