You have to check the 3rd photo where they explain (in English, no less) that the filters you’ll receive aren’t necessarily the blue ones you think you’re ordering, but another model (the white ones) which are just a piece of foam (with a lot less charcoal, by the way). According to customer service, who I contacted today, they only send the white ones now and apparently it was up to me to check the text on the 3rd photo... But the price is still the same as for the blue ones!!!

I've been using this fountain for seven years now. Really solid design. The motor still works perfectly. I give it a thorough clean about every other week. Very satisfied.

I ordered Cat Mate filters and to my great surprise, I received generic Closer Pets filters without being notified. I find this practice dishonest, especially since my cat refuses to drink since I replaced the filter. Probably a taste only my cat could explain. I think I’ll have to throw them away. So I’ll probably order other filters. If it turns out I get the same ones again without being told, I’ll close my account for good.

Never had any problems with our two units; one for upstairs and one for downstairs. In an ideal world, they would have been made of stainless steel, but I can always buy those later.

Overall, it’s a nice drinking fountain and both cats like to drink from it. At first, I received a plug with loose pins, but that was sorted out. Now, within a year, the pump has broken, despite good maintenance and regular descaling. So, not really durable.

I have bought this drinking fountain several times over more than 12 years, had to replace the pump, but even worse: because it’s made of plastic, it’s not easy to clean properly. It gets covered in a greasy residue, so bacteria build up. Even putting it in the dishwasher doesn’t get it clean. I’ve now bought a ceramic drinking fountain from another online shop, which was ten euros cheaper than the Catmate. It’s easy to clean and my cat is happy (and healthier) with it.

It's our third fountain, she didn't like the previous two, but I decided to give it another shot, and it worked out! We've been using it for almost a year. But it's not as quiet as described. I have to turn it off at night because it's noisy.

Great fountain, but when it's a bit less full, it starts making an annoying noise pretty quickly. Now the pump suddenly broke and there's no way to order it separately. So it has to go in the bin. Shame.

The old version, with "Cate Mate" written in red letters on the front, is really good. Quiet and has worked properly for years. The new one has a different motor and starts making a loud buzzing noise quickly when there’s less than a full amount of water in it.

Pump broke after 2 weeks and there’s no replacement pump available. I had my previous Petmate drinking fountain for years without the pump ever failing. Really disappointing.

For this review, it’s important to mention that I’m autistic and very sensitive to noise. However, the health of my pets is also extremely important to me. This drinking fountain is almost silent for me, which is honestly a blessing. Whenever I set up a new one, I do hear it for a little while, but that goes away after a few hours. The only thing I occasionally notice is a bit of vibration, but that’s more because of the surface it’s on than the fountain itself. Moving it slightly sorts that out.
