SureFlap XXL Microchip Pet Flap

Received my sure flap within 2 days (Overseas) and had a problem where my metal garage door was interfering with the chip. Called support and they were really responsive and helpful. Where the first solution didn't work, customer service organised and alternative sure flap which arrived again within 2 days. What could have been a very frustrating experience was supported right through to resolution at no additional expense to me. I could not praise the aftersales service more highly, Thanks!

I am so impressed! I acquired a Sureflap cat flap when I moved into my house two years ago and it has worked perfectly the whole time. Recently however I was woken at 1am to a cat fight and came downstairs to find a large ginger tom had gotten in and was stuck! Realised the cat flap had broken so following the online troubleshooter on the company website they diagnosed a problem they could resolve with a new part so at 3am on a Tuesday morning I got an automatic notification that they would send it out, which after another notification at 5pm the same afternoon, they did. It arrived the next day and was actually a complete replacement for the inside frame/door/latch. With their clear video tutorials it was easy to switch over and by 6pm on Wednesday it was as good as new and it didn't cost a penny! Efficient, effective and easy!

If you have a super greedy cat and a grazer cat like I do, this product is a must have in your household. I hesitated over the price for quite a while but there is nothing else like it out there. It is quite a big contraption but now I can feed my grazer cat and walk away knowing that the greedy cat will not be able to steal his food as soon as he can (it is very satisfying watching him try). The grazer cat will then be able to eat his food throughout the day as and when he pleases.

I first bought the SureFlap cat flap for my old flat, about 3 years ago. Previous to that I had spent a fortune on magnetic and then the petporte cat flaps. One of my cats, who likes to use his paws to open the door got himself stuck in both the magnetic and petporte ones, but never in the Sureflap. It's very well designed - the others led to break ins, but not the Sureflap. When I moved I bought another one for a double glazed door panel and it looks and works brilliantly. Highly recommend!

Bit wary when I bought this item - for 2 large cats - but certainly did exactly what it says on the box. One of my cats not at all keen because of the loud click the catch makes but when re-set delay to maximum he was OK with it and over time I was able to reduce the time delay on the locking mechanism to default. Certainly reduced the stress levels in the house! Just moved so need to get another one!

Don't waste your money on a "magnet controlled" flap from a different manufacturer (clunky, unpredictable, badly designed). The SureFlap flap WORKS. The clicks did not put off my cat - she found the newness of the flap a little stiff at first. But she got it within 2 days. The 10 second delay option has been brilliant, giving her a chance to keep trying until the flap opens.

Now little miss greedy cannot eat all the food and little miss picky can eat throughout the day as she wishes Would suggest consider including batteries in pack

The locking wheel prong broke which enabled any cat to come so the first night I had to sellotape the door shut. I emailed Sureflap that evening & got an automated reply. It didn't stop there cos I got another email the next morning asking me for serial no and address & they were going to send replacement free. Sure enough, the next day I received it in the post. Wow! Never had such good service, excellent. I've been very pleased with cat flap, does exactly what it says on the 'tin.'

We have had our sure flap for about two years. Before that we had a petporte but it just never seemed to work properly. The sure flap works unflinchingly and has done since installation. Our cats trust this one.. I thoroughly recommend sure flap. Also their customer support is nothing short of superb.

Its very pricey which made me hesitate at first but so pleased I did buy one as its been wonderful. It took my cat a couple of weeks to get used to it,but it does explain fully in the handbook how to train a hesitant cat to use it. Now he loves it and it enables me to fully monitor how much and what he eats (he is on a specific prescription diet and can only have small amounts often) . I recently sent for another feeder so impressed, he now has one upstairs and one downstairs. My other cats cant access his expensive prescription diet so this feeder will pay for itself over time.

There's not much to add. All reviews already mentioned all the cons. My big fat lady didn't like the idea at all in the beginning, but after about 2 weeks of training and a lot of patience it was fine. She's a very jumpy cat. It's now about3 years and it works great! Clean it once in a while, recharge batteries every 2years!

We installed this in June 2014. 2 days ago we needed to replace the battery. That's over a year with 1 cat and 1 dog using it, great! They both love it and took to it well. We have it always open to get out. Cat just slips through it. Dog does a superman and flies through it. Coming in the cat nice and easy walks up to it and waits for click to walk through it. The dog a bit more impatience, doesn't quite get it, runs to it and keeps hitting it until it opens. 13 months on it still works well! And they are both in and out a lot. Doggie is a pom/corgi mix. All I can say it we are very happy with the white (timber door fitted) SureFlap, thank you.

I have an older cat on a Hills prescription thyroid diet who needs to keep her weight up, and a younger cat who cannot stop eating! This feeder has been a godsend. It means I can now leave food down constantly for my older cat (who likes to graze) and the diet food for the greedy younger one. The food stealing was becoming anightmare and I was at my wits end. The surefeed was easy to set up and read both of their chips with no problem. My only grumble is that it didn't include a set of batteries, which given the price I would have expected. That said, it's an ingenious idea - I just hope the mechanism lasts!

Love love love it and so does my cat ..Very Easy to set up for microchip, my cat got used to using his catflap within 24 hours I am delighted he can come and go as he pleases with no worries about other cats gaining entrance, I can close his access at any time if it's necessary to keep him indoors Easy to keep clean Thank you for a great product and excellent customer service

bought this cat flap had to replace panel in upvc door it only took my cat a couple of hours to work it out and the enticement of chicken definitely helped with the learning process now I know my cat can come and go all day when I am at work and I don't feel so bad that I keep her in at night.

This is excellent, as is Sureflaps customer service. The first one didn't work properly so Sureflaps replaced it and paid to have it re-fitted. Replacement works like a dream. Standard size just fits my female Maine Coon. Can't recommend this highly enough.

I was not sure such a complex thing could work so well but it does. My nervous cat finds it fine to use and no other cats get in. However it was quite difficult and expensive to fit to my brick wall. I needed to purchase 5 of the expensive tunnel extensions and also the mounting adaptor which is needed to screw the cat flap onto the wall. But worth it in the end.

We've never had a cat flap before so I'm pretty sure our cat had never seen one as he's only a year old and we've only just started letting him out,researched all the cat flaps and this one got such good reviews I went with it, it arrived few days after I ordered and we sent it off to the glaziers as we had a glass door and it had to be made in,once it was in it we tried everything to get kitty in to it,but he just wasnt having it,dreamies etc, nothing worked, he just didnt get it,I went to work the next day and left him miaowing like mad to get out, son got up about 2hours later and cat was out-yay he worked it out all by himself,but would he get back in as there is a slight delay of a second or so when he puts his head in to allow the reader to read his chip, but yes little while later he arrived into the kitchen and we havent looked back since, best thing is being able to control when it opens and not, we set it that he cant get in but not back out from about 9pm as we dont like him outdoors at night, and then just unlock it in the mornings,really simple to link his chip to it also, you just press the button and make sure your cat then passes through and thats it, best thing I've bought in a long time

I am so pleased and relieved to have found a solution to our intruder cat problems. In particular, the cat next door liked to come in and steal our cat's food and also our food! Our cat stood and watched with an anxious look on his face. My reduced bill for cat food (halved) is already paying for our new cat flap!

For a year our cats went out through a little kitchen window. On colder, especially windy days, it wasn't that pleasant to have that window open. We finally got this pet door installed into the upvc backdoor. It took them about a week to get used to it. At the moment we use it as an ordinary cat flap to get them used to it but the microchips have been stored so we can change it to microchip lock whenever we want. We have it in use for over a month now and it works great. I wouldn't go for a smaller one. This is the right size for fully grown cats. With this door you have great control and can even program in the times that they can go out. It does make a distinct clicking noise when it is set to microchip lock but you can even set the locking time up to 10 seconds to give your cat time to come in after the click. There's a lot more you can set with this flap. Instruction manual is clear. I highly recommend this pet door.

Installed in the garage wall with tunnel extensions. Not too noisy. I was worried my cat might be scared to use it because of the thickness of the wall and the click when it opens, but no, he used it easily. You can set it to open mode at first (without chip lock) so the cat gets used to it. I chose this size of cat flap, not because my cat is very big, but because of the tunnel—I thought he'd be more comfortable, and I don't regret it.

At first I had to practice a bit and it took a few days for my cats to figure it out, but now it works brilliantly and takes so much stress off all of us. I chose the larger flap. I have a Norwegian Forest Cat mixed with Maine Coon and apparently a purebred Maine Coon. In any case, I think the size is perfect for both of them and I’d definitely recommend going for the bigger flap if you have larger cats. And yes, the mechanism is actually a bit noisy.

I already have a "SureFlap Microchip Pet Door" between the house and the barn (works perfectly). The other pet door (same model) is between the barn and the outdoors, to keep unfamiliar cats out of the barn.

The first one we bought turned out to have a door that was too small for our biggest tomcat to comfortably get in and out (he became a bit of a square cat—temporarily—when squeezing through). Door number 2 was the brown pet door with chip reader (works really well), which we installed in the door leading out to our barn, so it’s snow-free outside even in winter. Even our big tomcat is really happy with it now. Door number 3 is the same as number 2, but will be installed in one of the barn’s two entrances (possibly a fourth door later on).

We’ve bought this product before and were very happy with it! The cat flap is worth its price and we’d buy it again anytime! By the way, our “old” Sureflap lasted almost 15 years. 💪🏻👍🏻😉

I've had this cat flap for 5 years now. I've never had any problems—only my cat can get in thanks to his microchip. It's true that it makes a bit of noise, but it's not annoying, and you know when your cat comes in or goes out. I don't use the programming feature because I don't need it. The size is just right for a big cat. I'm very satisfied, it really makes life easier for everyone 😉
