It’s empty in here!
This scratching board fell apart at first use. The upper half of the scratching pad detached from the backing board. The staples were still intact but had come through the board. The product is shoddy and defective. I am writing the review today as it has been in the back of a press for awhile and I am now throwing it in the bin.
We have 2 of these, one is attached to the wall and one is left flat on the floor. One of our cats prefers vertical scratching but they all love horizontal scratching. It's very strong and take a lot of punishment..
Great idea, and good value for money.
My cats are soooo happy! I purchased 4 of these and put them on the corner of a wall in my kitchen ( they like this corner!) Well within seconds of me finishing drilling and putting them up they were up the top!!! What great boards, and they'll certainly last longer than the one I had up before!! Look at my photos " Crazy Cats " they are happy!!
The board is built very well and comes with a little sachet of cat nip which is great! I attached it to the wall in the living room and was disappointed that my cat wouldn't go near it, but after reading that cats like a scratch after a nap, I took it down and lay it on the floor near his cat bed. He IMMEDIATELY went over to it and started scratching and rolling on it! So there you go :) I think he'll continue to enjoy it.
I bought this scratch pad for my cats 2 years ago.I screwed it to the kitchen wall. It is very good and the cats love it. It is good quality and still looks like new.
My kitten started scratching the furniture. But when i got this she quickly decided that she loved it. 1 year on and she still using this everyday. Its still going strong with minimal fraying.
Been looking for a replacement scratching board for sometime that wasn't made of useless cardboard but could also stand up to the use of two cats. Also purchased scratching mat (reviewed separately) but this is a far superior item. Highly recommend.
cheap and easy to put up, has lasted my 3 cats for 2 years . . .
My cat loves these, and it protects walls/wallpaper where he likes to have a scratch deliberately to get me to chase him or let me know he wants a look outside(limited as I'm in a flat). He has two posts, but these placed where he likes to claw a wall give him extra stimulation and claw-trimming opportunities. I'm now ordering more for a friend whose cat goes outside, but will make good use of these. One thing: the supplied screws are too short, so use larger /longer ones to keep the board secure as if it comes off the wall while the cat is using it it will frighten the cat and it won't try again.
i brought this for my 3 cats (age 1-2) i brought the smaller one that is a good size, i nailed this to the side of the kitchen door where they where always scratching anyways! i have had this for about 1 year and it still has lots of life left in it! and they use it everyday!!
I got one of these to see if they were good enough to use outside as I want to make a series of ramps for my cat to play on and take a short cut up the fence. It looks great, really sturdy and the board it is attached to is solid. I think I'll give the board a coat of varnish just to seal it and make it last a little longer but I think it's going to work really well.
Not a great success with this afraid. However, it may have been entirely my own fault. Before I decided where to nail it, I propped it against the side of the sofa that my cat had taken to clawing at. However, of course, the first thing she did was have a tentative paw at it and it fell on her. She wasn't hurt but now, of course, won't go anywhere near it, despite me liberally dosing it in catnip.
The scratching post arrived promptly but although the sisal board itself looks very durable, the backing board it comes on is just a flimsy bit of laminate board. The sisal was supposed to be fixed to this by staples so you could then hang the board on the wall but it fell off the laminate when I unpacked it. Not sure how I'm going to stick it to the wall now!
I was fed up with the standing scratching post being dragged around on the laminate floor and bought this one and screwed it to the wall. The long board is a good height for a scratch and stretch. My girl had to get used to it a bit because the sisal is tightly woven (her old post had roughened up over time) but seems to have taken to it now as she is back to her ever so frequent manicure routine.
My 2 cats were using it the second I got the wrapping off so I'll soon be buying more to replace the tatty cardboard ones I have dotted around the house. They blend in well with my decor too. They didn't need the catnip as an incentive to use the scratching board so I'll use it to make a cat toy. One negative is that the staples used to fix the backing board were not all flush so I hammered these in before laying on my laminate flooring to prevent scratches. BTW The boxes my deliveries come in are also very popular!
We're a four-cat household and bought our first one of these back in 2006... Today is April 1st 2009 and this is the first time it has needed to be replaced.. Brilliant value for money, very sturdy and robust, and as others have said. it can be put as high as you like up a wall, which is great if you have terminally lazy Persians such as I do, who find it a terrible strain just to even stretch to get into a sunbeam!
Excellent value for money, my cat has used hers everyday for the past 12 months and both boards still look brand new.
After buying the corner scratch pads i was reluctant to buy this item. But i was very pleasantly surprised! Its very strong and sisal seems to be lasting quite well.......
I am very pleased with this item, its just what I needed for my cat. I am very satisfied with your prompt delivery and the quality of the item. Thank you very much. Gloria Kirk.
This scratching pad can be screwed to the wall or floor, and provides the cat with the perfect scratching post that won't move around or wobble and fall over, like standing scratching posts do. It can be positioned as high as you need, so that the cat can stretch to her full lenght. Solid, safe and perfect for adult or bigger cats. It saves a LOT of space! Very durable too (after 5 months of use it's exactly the same)! A must for smaller homes, I can vouch for that.
