Deconstructed
We got the small in this bed for our senior corgi mix and she loved it, it helped with her stiff hips. So we ordered the large for our new dog, a rescue border collie of 16 months. He has torn both beds apart. Indestructible beds are not easy to design I'm sure, but I wasn't impressed with the foam 'mattress' which shed large chunks without any intervention from our dog, when I unzipped it to wash the cover. The cushion is good, the shape is great, the foam&cover flimsy. I won't purchase again.

Does not hold its shape at the side
Bought this bed for my chocolate lab dog. Bed was perfect for the first couple of weeks however the sides do not hold and the fleece cover kept moving when he moved around it, the Velcro did not seem to be strong enough to hold. As a result the bed has ripped. I would not recommend this bed for larger dogs. Personally I feel I need to purchase a bed with a strong more durable material.

Dogs love it - but fire hazard?
I have seven of these beds in total (!) - my four dogs all love them and they are a great price. However, one of them recently met its demise after a furious bit of digging, and I had bits of foam everywhere. I absentmindedly threw one piece on the fire and it ignited quite dramatically in the embers within seconds. So I'd encourage you to ensure these beds are kept well away from fires and electrical equipment that might spark, and if you're a smoker, away from any falling ash, too.

bed fantastic, cover inferior
I wholeheartedly agree with Annie Gregory. The beds themselves are fantastic (each of my 3 dogs has one and they love them), but the cover material is far too delicate for a dog bed. It tears easily and within 3 to 6 months 2 of the 3 beds needed extensive repairs (also, washing at a maximum of 30 degrees is laughable for a dog bed). I'm quite upset at having to buy whole new beds because the covers are of unsuitable quality. Zooplus really ought to create the possibility to buy spare covers.

Why no spare covers?
Yes, these are good beds - I have bought one for each of my dogs. But, despite many requests, Zooplus won't sell spare covers. So I have just been forced to buy an entire new bed just because the sleeping area cover was worn. It irritates the hell out of me. Spare covers would make life easier in so many ways, not least when the first cover is in the wash. Since this is a best-seller, there would certainly be an economic justification as well as an opportunity for better customer service.

replacement covers for orthopaedic dog bed rectangular
bed is brilliant but very disappointing that extra covers can not be purchased as they get very shabby and need to be replaced where as the bed itself remains perfect

Better covers needed
Originally bought for my very arthritic Lab (sadly no longer with us) but had to get a 2nd for my Beagle as he always got to the bed first! Really comfortable and supportive beds but the covers are not very hard wearing. My Beagle has now destroyed two beds thru 'digging'. He has gone thru the covers and into the foam. We have tried putting extra covers on top, but he just pushes them to one side and digs down to the foam and tears it. Sturdier covers (maybe cord) and also spare covers would be great. I'd then buy more beds and rate with a 5!

Comfortable but noisy!
I already have a flat orthopaedic mattress for my dog so I thought this one with its comfy sides would be perfect to put in our bedroom, to convince our 40kg RRB that sleeping on our bed really didn't make sense! He does sleep well on it, however, the make up of the bed means that it rustles loudly whenever he moves on it. I think this is because the top cover detaches and is waterproof / washable, however it is disappointing that a bed costing this much should be so noisy and therefore I've only given it 3 stars.

BE AWARE HIGH EDGES REDUCE THE SIZE OF THE FOAM MEMORY
A bit of a disappointment. The memory foam is definitely a '5 very good'. However we ordered the usual bed size 90 x 60 x 30 cm for our dogs, but as the thick high edges are included in the measurements of the bed, it reduces the size of the memory foam mattress, making the bed too small for my dogs. So for that reason a '3 satisfactory'. We kept the dog bed, but we had to be creative, using part of another dog bed with soft high edges and making our own wood frame to support the edges. Now it looks like a bunk bed with nice comfy high edges for my dogs to rest their head and snuggle up in and with a good memory foam mattress which is now large enough for my dogs to use. So if you want ot buy this bed either be prepared to be creative or order a larger size than the one you usually order!
