I am not a Vet so this review is based on a laymans findings.
We have a Westie (they can be quite sensitive to diet) & a rescued spaniel who will eat anything! Even 1 of our cats will have a go at it given a chance!
They both seem to enjoy this food (coming from Burns), yes they seem to drink 'slightly' more & there does seem to be a lot more 'mess' in the garden for me to clear up :(
The spaniels coat is still VERY shiny & both dogs have plenty of energy! No skin issues with the Westie.
My dogs have been on this for a few years now. One of my JRT's was very fussy and literally wouldn't eat his food, I tried a number of other good brands, but none he seemed to like for more than a couple of weeks. I tried Lukullus as it had good properties, dry extruded, good nutritional reviews(I look up on allaboutdogfood.co.uk) without breaking the bank. All my dogs enjoy it, although my older dog doesn't have it so often as she puts on too much weight.
I have been feeding my dogs raw homemade food for almost 3 years, but have just switched to Lukullus. Reason for the switch is that I'm 7 months pregnant and making all the frozen homemade food was becoming tiring. I decided on Lukullus and have been happy with the switch. The ingredients are good, and on par with higher priced dry food. I mix the dry food with various wet foods to give them the variety they're used to and they're always keen to get their dinner and still happy healthy dogs.
My collie x springer, 4.5 years old, is on Lukullus chicken&salmon, several weeks now. Just like with Markus Muhle of which she ate most of a 15 kg bag I have noticed: 1) she is no longer bloated, she looks slimmer; 2) her coat is particularly shiny; 3) she drinks a lot of water day and night; 4) she takes a poo on every single walk (3 a day), plus often she wants to go out at night which I find puzzling. Store food wisely or it gets moldy in winter!
This is a great food but I prefer for my boy to get a higher meat percentage. Purizon is the next step up but is actually TOO rich - lots of gas. Now I mix both 50/50 and it is perfect. If Lukullus came in a 50/50 blend it would be perfect.
I got a sample bag of this food which I used as treats for my dog. He loved it. I tried switching my Alaskan Malamute onto it full time but his coat became a bit dry, almost brittle. I switched him back to his old food after one bag but still keep a small bag around for treats. It didn't quite suit my boy, but he loves the taste and I like the ingredient list.
