I use these mats in the bottom of my degus' cage to protect their feet from the wire floor. They are nice and thick - it takes my super destructive degus a long time to get them noticeably shredded - and very absorbent, even under a leaky water bottle. My only slight concern is a little bit of dust formed of tiny fibres produced when the matting is chewed up, though I only notice it when picking up the shredded mats while cleaning out and the degus are certainly happy and healthy.

I've bought this from zooplus for over 7 years for my degus multi level cage and it's great! It covers the mesh perfectly and they've never had any foot problems because of this! They can tear it up a bit into a fluffy nest as required but it's generally long lasting
